OTC Dewormer?

Hi guys, I have brought a stray in and took him to the vet yesterday for his shots, FeLV test, and to schedule his neutering and surgery to fix his small hernia. They mentioned giving him a dewormer, but I don't think they gave him one because soon after that I mentioned I was going to treat all the cats for fleas again. They usually don't deworm them until the fleas are completely gone because of the tapeworm factor. That being said, the stray, called Koda, threw up last night and had, what I believe to be, round worms in his vomit. Though we are treating for fleas, I would still love to get rid of these other pests that he has. If he gets a tapeworm afterwards, so be it, because my other cats will be treated for that eventually and he will be, too. I've looked up Drontal, but it appears you need a prescription for that, as well as Profender, so I'm not too sure what else to use.
My vet is closed today, so I was curious if there was an over-the-counter dewormer that actually works and is safe to use. I would like to get these gross, disgusting things out of him as soon as I can.

if you aren't sure if the vets gave them dewormer or not, I'd call to check before considering OTC dewormers.

I am not sure which are good or not, hopefully someone will chime in!

I checked his paper from yesterday, he did not receive a dewormer.
I agree about just getting one from the vet as I've never used an OTC one, but I hate knowing he has those gross things inside of him. I expected it, but when I actually saw it.. gross

Drontal is a great dewormer for tapeworm, very effective.  Get the scrip

I was looking at that. How do I get the script? Just call my vet or what? I've never ordered prescriptions online before. And my vet is closed today. Also it is roundworm, it works well for that too, yeah?

On Monday call your vet and tell them as a follow up to your visit you want to deworm them and will they prescribe drontal, and then assuming they say yes (and they should) then you go and pick it up from the office and administer at home as directed.  Going to an online store like Drs. Foster and Smith is much slower, they have to contact your vet for the scrip and then mail it to you.....
