Hi all,

I am concerned about my poor kitty.. About two days ago my kitty started contorting his face and sticking his tongue out as far he can and twisting it almost like he was gagging. At the time he stopped eating and I assumed it was either something in his throat or his teeth were bothering him. I took him to the vet and they put him under and gave him a dental and a x-ray of his throat and abdomen. everything came out good.. nothing was in his throat, the vet said his teeth were ok and we got his blood work done with no abnormalities. The day we brought him home (yesterday) he ate just fine and started acting as normal as he could considering he was just put under. Then today he started doing the face contortion tongue gagging thing again and he is randomly throwing up little chunks of food covered in saliva. He is at least eating but very hesitantly.

Please help!

Thanks

Mike

P.S. he is 8 years old and 11 pounds on a raw diet and he has no fever. and the vet gave him cerenia and we are giving him 2ML twice a day slippery elm bark syrup

What kind of raw diet are you feeding? Does it include whole bone or ground up bone? Small bone fragments can get stuck in the molars and cause gagging and is just uncomfortable. It happens to my cats once in awhile. I just check their teeth and push out the bone using a rubber dental pick.

we liquefy the bone. I doubt that would be it tho because we got a full dental on him and the vet completely checked his teeth and gums. I will check.  thanks for the help

Have you tried giving him something other than his regular diet to see if he does the same thing?

Yea, I have tried fussy cat and some other foods with no success. He seems nautious and now started to drool and looks like he wants to eat. I'm going to setup an appointment for Monday at a different vet unless he either stops eating for too long and I have to take him to emergency or he gets better
