Hi everyone!

My cat sage started labor around 12pm today, and had her first baby at 12:10. The next one came at 2:19pm. There are no new babies currently, and it is 9pm. I would say she has delivered all the babies she is going to, but around 4pm she began having more contractions, noticeable but not terribly hard. These lasted for maybe 30 minutes with no baby. She also still has a rather large tummy for having finished delivering. Both of the ones that have been born are healthy and so is the mother, but i am almost positive she has one or two more left. Is this normal? i read someone's cat had them every 12 hours but i wanted to check just in case! any advice?

thanks!

Typically, as long as the cat isn't in active labor without producing a kitten, it's basically a watch and wait.

With that, having noticeable contractions for 30 minutes without producing a kitten is a bit concerning. How is she now? Is she resting comfortable and tending to the other kittens? Has she eaten or drank anything since giving birth?

She's very relaxed now, she's eaten about 3 times, tending to the kittens perfectly!

As long as she is not in distress things should be fine. If she pushes for 30 minutes without producing a kitten you should call a vet. Cats can have kittens days apart depending on when they mated. Cats also have after pains up to 2 days after delivering.
