Hi, as many of you know, I lost my "soul kitty" Angel to Lymphoma back on 2/5/16.

I thought it would be a LONG time before I had another. For emotional, & financial reasons. Little did I know, I'd be adopted again so soon!

This past Labor day weekend, I sweet little black kitty started hanging out on my porch. She hung out long enough, that I finally fed her.

I thought she was a boy at first, because she wouldn't let me get a good enough look, & there was too much fluff back there to just see with the lift of the tail.  The whole story is here.

http://www.thecatsite.com/t/326610/ive-been-adopted-again-kind-of-long-sorry-picts/240#post_4150880

When I finally took her to the vet for all of her shots, I had the vet look at her teeth, because I noticed bad breath. Sure enough, she needs a tooth extracted!  So, because I didn't plan on having a new kitty, I hadn't prepared for such an expense.  Thankfully, a client had given me my Christmas bonus early, so that's what I used to pay for her first visit, exam, shots, then back for boosters, & also had her micro-chipped!

Now, I just need help raising money for the dental.

Anything is appreciated. I am aware of the formal standard warning that the mods have to post when anyone ask for donations. That's fine.

All of my info is included. The vet is the same as Angel had. Dr. Jennifer Rockwell, at The Sound Cat, Wilmington, NC

Donations can also be made there if anyone likes. Just PM me, & I will give you my last name, & their phone number to do so.

I Hate I have to even do this, but am appreciative that I can.

Here is the YouCaring fund I started.

Until the moderators get to posting the formal warning, I just wanted to wish you best of luck! I made a small donation and featured your thread. I hope Sammy's teeth get fixed ASAP!

Oh Anne, Thank you so much!!  I really appreciate that!

As if this wasn't enough, I had a top molar break on Friday night!  Almost half of the inside of it. So I am waiting for the dentist to call me back, so I can get in hopefully today!  Mine will probably be half as much as Sammy's though!  ......Always something right?

Thanks so much my friends! Anything is appreciated!
I am just now checking my email. Didn't yesterday, or much this past weekend. I finally put up my tree & decorations!

It was nice to do, since I didn't do it last year, not wanting to stress Angel out while going through chemo.

I was worried how Sammy would react to the tree, but she could care less, has paid it no mind at all. She hasn't even tried to check it out, so that's great!

I have to say, I have been blessed with good kitties!  Neither she, or Angel are/were counter surfers, or table jumpers, etc...

I gave a little for beautiful Sammy. God, she is stunning and, how lucky she is to have found you. I hope you are able to raise what you need. I know how expensive the dentals are. Two months ago my Milo  needed a cleaning and three extractions, $1,250 ouch.

It was expensive. From TCS I have learned that here in Silicon Valley vet care is steep. Milo, did just fine. They gave me some pain killer and a weeks worth of antibiotic. I kept him in a room away from the other cats the first night so that he could recover. Sammy will be fine. I just got a new black cat myself.....I hope Sammy  can get her dental soon. I related to you because when Milo needed his dental I had a molar fracture...when it rains it pours.

YES, It does!  After trying to not use the care credit, because I still have a large balance on it from things Angel went through, I HAD to use it for my tooth! 253.00 later.....

Angel had to have a couple of extractions too. Two separate ones. One with each cleaning. Both were on the bottom, in the middle. He did fine too.

That's great you just got a new kitty!  I never thought I'd have a black kitty. (I have a lot of white & cream in my house), but along she came, so of course I took her in.

Hi Guys,  I just thought I'd bump this up, and let you know I scheduled Sammy's appt. today for Wednesday the 22nd. I appreciate all of you who have contributed. I am still working on reaching the goal.

About 150.00 left to go,  (But wanted to be sure to get in during dental month!)

so if anyone has anywhere they can share this, that might help,It would be much appreciated.

Poor girl. She has only been to the vet's twice for her initial shots & boosters. She has never been dropped off, much less for the day!  She is going to hate being kept in all day. Then, by time we get home, I'm sure she won't be going out either, plus, it will be too late in the day anyway. I always make her come in around 5:30 when it started getting dark by 5:45ish now. Unless she's already in for dinner.

She usually goes out after breakfast for a while to use the bathroom, etc.. and I'll have to have her there between 8 & 9 in the morning, so not sure how I will deal with that. She will not use the litter box unless she is kept in, & has to go. She has even held it all morning if I made her stay in because of bad weather, until I get home in the afternoon.  I do still have a harness I could try, but did that once & it was not good!

She freaked out & tried to pull & run when a car pulled up into the parking area, & we were about 2 cars away, over in some grass. I can try & put it on her, & carry her down to a grassy bushy area & hope she will go pee!

Otherwise I better put two big towels in the carrier, & one on my car seat!  ( I looked at puppy pads before, but were so expensive, & only need a couple) Just in case!  She peed on the way the first time because she didn't get to go out & I think it was her first time in a car & was so scared. Meowed the whole 30 minute drive.

.......Lawd help me!!

Anyway, Thanks again everyone!

I would love to be able to contribute again, but with Medley's numerous trips to the vet, we just can't right now. I will share it again on FB tho, I hope it'll bring some donations.

About the car, did you try to put a blanket with familiar scents on it on top of Sammy's carrier? I know it calms down our cats a lot when we travel.

Aww, thank you, but no, I do not expect anyone who has already donated to do so again. Just hoping that any extra shared postings will help, so thank you for offering to post it for me! :)

No, at the time, I used the comfort zone spray in the carrier 30 minutes before leaving, as suggested, as well as I sprayed a little in the car vents before loading up, knowing I'd have them on , so she could feel some air. I don't remember if she even laid on a blanket back then. She mostly would just lay on the floor. The carrier is a soft one, so not sure about a blanket on it.
Plus, I wanted her to be able to see out as much as possible, because I've heard of some cats getting car sick.
I'd put one inside w/ her if I knew she wasn't going to pee, but since I don't know if she will or not, don't want to take a chance. (Or if it was a one time thing)?
I will be spraying the carrier/ pad inside, & vents again w/ the comfort zone. I have calming treats, but she won't be able to eat before hand, so those are out. (Plus takes twice as many to work on her!) I may also pick up some Rescue Remedy if I can.

@Lyzzie & @Margd,

Thank you so much. Will do! I did pick up some Rescue Remedy for Sammy, ...& I may need some too. :lol3:
I put a clean towel in her carrier on the porch when I cleaned yesterday, so it would have time to get her smell on it. I'm going to put that in the carrier with her. Hopefully that will help too.
I think I'm also going to give her a little extra food tonight before bed, maybe around 10:00, in hopes she won't be too hungry in the morning. I hope it works. Going to try & take her out w/ a harness, to see if she'll go pee before we go, but don't know that she will. It will be strange to her. I put it on her for about 5 minutes last night. She didn't like it. She whined about it & it turned into a little moan/ growl. After taking it off, I said, " good girl," & gave a treat. Going to do that again tonight. I really don't want her to pee on the way. She only did that the first time since it was a morning appt. She didn't get to go out, & may have also been scared, never being in the car before.
The second visit, for boosters, I made an afternoon appt. & She was fine. So.....? We'll see!
I'll give her some rescue remedy, & will spray the comfort zone in the carrier, & in the car (& vents) about 20 minutes before we leave. :cross:

Hi Kelly, thinking of you and Sammy.
Wishing you all the best for tomorrow.
I know how worried you must be. We always worry about our babies. My vet says my Mittens needs some dental work, but I keep stalling. Truth is, I am terrified of having it done. He is due for an annual check up, so let's see.
Also, sorry about the misprint on Artie's thread. Yes, I know Sammy is a girl. I always follow your threads to see how you and your sweet GIRL are doing. I accidentally typed he instead of she. My apologies again, really am sorry!
Love and hugs to you and your sweet kitty!

That's ok. No problem.   I just wasn't sure if you knew.

Thanks Cindy!  Yes, I do worry. I know she will be fine. I've got the best vet ever! Angel had an extraction two separate times there as well, so I know she's in good hands.

I think I am just too empathetic. Worried because she won't understand why she can't have breakfast, especially when she wakes me up for it, and worried that she won't understand when being dropped off in the morning. She hates being kept in, so being in a cage at the vets all day is going to make her miserable & scared, I'm sure. I hate that she has to be in there all morning, Surgeries aren't until the afternoons, so they can do the blood work to make sure she's good to go under in the mornings. Drop off is between 8 & 9, so it will be 9;00. Don't want her to have to be there any longer than she has to be.

Like I said, I always say I'll be back when I leave the house, even if she's up on the porch, so hopefully she will understand I'll be back for her when I say it tomorrow.

Jeez, I feel like an emotional mom who's going to take her child to kindergarten for the first time.

My parents live half way between here & there, so I will go there for the day, until they call me for pick up, so I don't have to go all the way home. It's 11 miles from here. Doesn't sound far, but it's all the way on the other end of town, & between traffic & lights, can take 30 minutes or a little more. Just depends. Hopefully, I will be able to pick her up by 4:00. That seems like the usual time.

Thanks again for the thoughts you guys!
