Hi everyone,

My normally loving and friendly Zoe is absolutely terrified of my relatively new boyfriend.  We have been dating for a few months and I just recently moved Zoe into his apartment as that's where I spend almost all my time.  She was previously in a house where I rented a room from a friend, who had other cats and a dog that Zoe did not get along with.  I thought it would be best for her to be where I was as she missed me terribly.  She had met my boyfriend a few times at the house and didn't seem to mind him.  Well, that has changed significantly since I brought her to his place.  She at first would just hide from him in her cat tree and only come out when he wasn't close by.  He tries to be friendly to her, talking to her and feeding her dinner and treats.  After about a week she seemed to be coming around, and even started coming out into the room he was in.  Then she would suddenly take a turn and go back to hating him.  She snarls and hisses everytime he goes anywhere near her.  Now it has gotten to the point where she is so terrified that she will not move from her hiding spot until long after he has gone, and she has started peeing where she is laying.  If he goes near her she will howl and pee on the spot and just lay in it.  The past 2 days she has started hiding in her litter box as it's in a small closet.  I'm so worried about her and have tried everything I can think of.  I try to make him ignore her but he so badly wants her to like him that he can't help but try getting close to her.  I just bought Feliway and have had it plugged in for 2 days now. The first night it was almost like it worked miracles, after being plugged in for an hour she suddenly became more relaxed and actually came out into the livingroom, jumped up on the couch and layed on me like she used to.  When he came home she never moved from the couch.  I even left for the night and she stayed with him on the couch, letting him pet her and everything.  But the next morning, everything changed again, and she's worse than ever.  To the point of being lethargic, if she does come out to eat when he's not home she's slinking across the room.  I don't know what else to do, he's not a cat lover but he wants to get along with her for my sake.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Maybe it's because of the new environment ? Because cats are territorial animals and don't like new places..a few weeks ago I took Alice with me to a place where we stayed for 3 days .. She hid under the bed most of the time when she sensed the other family members and only came out when everyone slept and started jumping and having fun , cats have different personalities some adapt to changes faster than others .. Try to bring her furniture into the house and boyfriend's clothes or stuff so she would adapt to his smell .. Good luck
