Yes, the fact that she is watching you is a very good sign.  If she were frightened of you, she would be hiding.  She's just taking her own sweet time deciding if she can totally trust you.  There is some degree of trust already or, as I said, she would be hiding.  I imagine she's had a rough go of it in her previous life.  One thing you can do at a distance is blink directly at her, very slowly.  It is cat language for "I trust you," which for cats is tantamount to "I love you."  Once she begins to blink back at you, you will be well on your way to a closer relationship.

And before I go, thank you so very much for adopting this special needs cat.  She is lucky to have you.  Welcome to The Cat Site.  This is a wonderful community of cat lovers.  Prowl around a bit, there are lots of interesting, informative and fun things here, and TONS of people ready to extend friendship to another cat lover.

@Mamanyt1953, thanks so much! hahaha, I have been blinking slowly at her for 2 days now...Right now she is sleeping on my bed, so yeah I think you are right, not much hiding unless I cross her path and the she just runs to a safe distance. Yes, I think she is terrified of humans, she has been through a lot..after the accident she was brought to Madrid, 600 hundred km from where she was found and kept in a cage in a shelter...so no wonder..Thank you so much for your answer, I started at  the catsite like 3/4 months ago and I love it!

thanks again

Awww, thanks for adopting this baby.  I am sure she is traumatized by the entire things that have been happening to her.  I adopted a very senior girl years ago that wanted nothing to do with me.  Would not come out of the safe room for over a week and when she finally did, she would not come downstairs.  Instead, she would sit at the top of the stairs and just look down at me then scoot back to a hallway corner when I approached.  I brought her food to her as I think she would have starved herself otherwise.  It was a few months before she came downstairs and almost a year before she was totally comfortable with me!  Some fur babies just take a very long time to trust again.  She ended up passing another year after that but there is no doubt in my mind that she had the very best year she had had in her life!  Have patience - trust will come in time.  Offer a soft voice, slow movements and treats of lightly sauteed chicken tenders and you may be rewarded before long with an invitation to rub her head.

She's going to turn into a sweetie for you, I'm betting.  One thing is that she will learn that you are safe by watching your other kitties.  Keep us posted on how she is doing!
