We have an almost 5 month old kitten. She can be the sweetest ever (curling up in my arms to sleep) and I THINK she likes me (she'll lay on my shoulders when I brush my teeth and always wants to hang out in the room I am in) but recently she has started jumping at my face. :( I'll be sitting on the couch watching TV and all of a sudden she runs at me and jumps in my face and bites me. It scares me very much and I'm worried she could hurt my eyes. :( I have NO idea why she does that (she doesn't do it to my boyfriend). Is she mad at me? I try so so hard to give her love and a happy life and toys. :( I hate that I can't relax on my couch because a kitten might jump into my face any moment.

Is this normal behavior for a cat? Is there any way I can teach her not to do that?

I think she was weaned to early (we got her when she was 2 months old) and I wish I could somehow teach her that she is hurting me. (I think and hope she is just playing when she does that.)

Please help me, I love my kitty so so much but this is making me crazy.

Hello KittyAmaryllis, welcome to TCS :wavey:

No, your kitty is not mad at you. I presume that your kitty has enough of playtime with you? This is just one of the many phases a kitten will go through. Just be a little more alert while watching tv and at the same time watch if she's coming at you and get a toy to distract her. If she goes for your eyes, say a firm 'NO' to her and just stand up and move away. Do that each time she does that to you. She'll learn that she is not supposed to do that after awhile.
My boy went though that when he was 4 months old. He'll bite and pull our hair and bite our eyes while we were sleeping. But he soon got past that and now he does not do that anymore.
Just bear with your kitty for a moment and she'll get over this. She just want to play and she is still very much a kitten. Just be patience and continue loving her ;)

Mingo did that to me, too. It seemed like there was a switch that was thrown suddenly, and he would go after my face. I could see the look in his eye, and put up my arms to protect my face and said a loud "No!" Eventually he quit it. Playing helps a lot, but don't let her play so hard that she becomes angry. Your cat may also just want attention because you are watching TV, not playing with her. A toy as TabbyTom suggested may distract her.
