I would bag that sample and bring to the vet as soon as possible. Bring the cat in too.

I just dropped it off. The vets are at lunch but will call me ASAP.

The cat was in the morning for booster shots.
He usually has a little mucus, loose stool. We've been working with his vet on it. He's been this way since we got him.

He's 7 months old today.

Just looks soft to me, maybe a little blood? What's he eating? Are you giving any digestive enzymes or probiotics?

He's eating Blue Buffalo indoor kibble. He was eating Fromm's. He does take a probiotic, but just started 2 weeks ago.

I would suspect the kibble, if his stool comes back free of parasites from the vet. I'm not a kibble fan, though, I think cats should at minimum eat wet food. I assume you're using forti flora? Which is also a terrible probiotic, but it tastes good which is why its often prescribed.

Bixbi brand actually. It was not prescribed.

I mix his kibble with water, sometimes pureed pumpkin.

Yes. A lot of mucus. And a bit of blood.

His stool tests were normal. No worms or giardia.

Hmm. I just looked that up and it appears to be some kind of digestive enzyme, but that ingredients looks really weird. What kibble are you feeding? I don't really recommend you mix kibble with water or wet foods. Kibble is highly processed and can begin to grow bacteria very quickly when you add anything wet to it. Are you giving him any wet food? I'm not a fan of kibble, especially for cats that have digestive issues, a simple ingredients wet food is much easier for them to digest.

Since his stool is clear, this is probably the food. If you can find it, slippery elm powder is a great safe supplement you can either make into a syrup and syringe (what I do) or mix into wet food or baby food and it'll help with that diarrhea.

This is what he is eating now. The feeding instructions said I could mix it with water. He eats everything in one sitting and gets a fresh bowl for each meal. But, obviously, I'm not committed to this feeding method.

He was eating wet (Wellness) for a while, but the gas was unreal. I could try another brand.

Oh snap you told me already. I'm replying to so many comments today I can't keep track. Eh, I would try and get him off that. Rice is inappropriate for cats and can trigger digestive issues, among other things. You're right the instructions do say to add water, which is crazy to me, because that's def not a good suggestion. It sort of seems like they're trying to claim it's more of a "freeze dried" kibble, but it's def not. I don't like BB as a company (a LOT of recalls) and I don't like their foods. Did this stool issue start when you changed his food?

This is a list of kibbles that are a bit better, but if your kitty likes water and crunchies together he may like freeze dried food like Stella and Chewy or Primal. Cats do get bored with their food, so if you can it would be good to add in some wet foods to his food rotation and then maybe slowly try and eliminate the kibble.

have you tried Nature's Variety food. It is really good-- high protein and low carbs..

My guy takes Proviable probiotics.. They are much better than many others on the market. You can order it through Chewy for half of what the Vet's office charges for it..
