Hi folks,

I rescued a 12 month old cat a few months back in June this year.  She has always been a timid girl and detests being picked up. I respect this about her and give her as much affection as she needs at ground level.  Having said that, she is happy to jump onto the couch or bed, but not very good at jumping up higher or tackling the large cat tower.  She will tackle the cat tower if she wants, but is very awkward, which I put down to strength (guessing).

I've noticed she has a slight co-ordination problem (only minor) with her front paw and it looks slightly pigeon toed. Sometimes she sits with that elbow pointing out.  She also had a very stiff lower back when she first came to me, which has loosened up over time.  The fur is sometimes upright on her back when she is calm, so I think she may have an old injury, but not quite sure yet.  I'm extremely hesitant to take her to the vet at the moment because she is so nervous and has only now started to settle and not rush off under the bed.  Vet visit will come later (unless she is unwell of course).

Tonight I noticed for first time her toilet habit which she did in front of me for the first time.  She was having a bowel movement and stood with her back legs in the tray and her front legs on the edge, literally standing up, but her little pigeon toed foot was pointing out the front, so she was balancing on three legs.  I've never seen this before and not sure what to make of it.  She was huffing a little bit but not too much and was quite happy after the event.

Lastly she is a slightly robust girl and can be described as the feline labrador when it comes to food.  She must eat her emotions the poor darling.   My question after that long winded introduction was if anyone has an idea why she would stand in the manner she did when going to the toilet?  I'm starting to think she might have a neurological or spinal issue?  Overall she is quite happy, purrs a lot and plays scatty cat games every night.

I call it the reverse tripod, 3 up, 1 down, one of my cats enjoyed doing this :)
