We have a 9 week old kitten that we've had about 2 weeks. He's settled in really well and seems really happy. He uses his cat box (we have 2) and knows where they are but he's had 2 "accidents" since we've had him. Once on a blanket and once on the Christmas tree skirt. He uses the cat box every other time so I'm not sure what's going on? Is he just getting distracted and not realizing he's got a full bladder until it's too late? We've had cats forever and have never had this problem. I don't want this to become a habit...

My guess is that both were accidents. This happens with kittens and they outgrow it as they get bigger. It's not uncommon. Now, if he goes back to pee in the same spot over and over it's deliberate. When cats pee inappropriately it can be due to a UTI (urinary tract infection), which antibiotics resolve. Just keep an eye out. You've only had him 2 weeks, and he's still a little guy who's adjusting to your home, so hopefully those were accidents only. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
