I have a very pregnant cat due anyday. Well last night she started to act like she was going into labor no pushing this was 12 hours ago she seems fine eating drinking walking using the bathroom but i just saw a pretty large drop of bright red blood. I dont get paid until the 5th and am so scared something is wrong. Shes an older cat maybe 5 to 7 and was a rescue babies are still moving and she is just laying down in her box purring has been for 12 hours with the exception of a bathroom run and a snack what do i need to look for that would mean a doc call im in indiana.

Has there been any more blood? If she begins to bleed heavily without a kitten being born she needs a vet asap. I'm hoping the nesting and purring means labor and she will deliver soon.

Keep us posted!

It sounds like she is laboring to me. Keep an eye on her for now. If you do end up needing the vet, perhaps they would hold a post-dated check for you. Hopefully her labor will progress normally.

Stage one labor can easily last for 24 hours. Cats purr through labor to comfort themselves through the pain of contractions. Things sound normal to me right now.
