My kitten stinks

I recently adopted a kitten on November 11th. When we got her she smelt faintly of litter box and her fur seemed to have an almost greasy look to it. Well last night I gave her a bath, she took it fairly well, but when I woke up she had litter stuck to her fur and she stinks again. We literally just had cleaned her box, with new litter and everything before going to bed, so I am unsure as to why she smells the way she does, unless she got into something else and rolled in it?

I'm just unsure what to do about the smell, I don't want to keep bathing her and dry out her skin.

I took in a feral once that had a bad odor.  I don't know why he smelled like the litter box, but he did.  Gradually, the odor went away, and after a few months it was gone.  He now has a nice spicy odor.  Perhaps it was something in the diet he was being fed?  It may be it will just take time to lose that odor.

That could be it. I know she was being fed something different from what we feed her now. She has a habit of farting when she gets excited or purrs which doesn't help with her already smelling bad. But she seemed to be stinky when we picked her out. But even though she was smelly there was just something about her I liked.

Is she laying in her litter box when you aren't looking? Also, how is her stool? If it's loose I would stop feeding her dry food for a few days and only give her wet. That will help her stomach and her stool will be less loose and she'll probably stop farting, lol.

Her stool is hard like it should be. Though she has a habit of pushing the poop all to one side before we scoop it once a day. Not sure why, but she separates all the poop and such from the clean litter, which might be part of the reason she stinks. I'll try the wet food though and see if that helps her gas any.

But I'm not sure if she's laying in it or not. I haven't seen it. But it's possible she does while we sleep or at work.

Sometimes cats lay in their litter boxes when they're feeling unsafe in a new environment. Also, is she grooming and acting normal other than her smell?

She grooms herself on occasion. She's doesn't do it a lot. Mainly after she uses the litter box she'll groom, sometimes she'll groom her face when she sits with me. Other then the smell she seems fine, she runs and plays, mostly at night. She likes the laser, plays with the ball we got her, and attacks strings on hoodies. She even attacks my hair. Very playful, just kind of a night owl, sleeps a lot during the day.

I think the smell will go away once she's eating the wet food and gets a little older. She sounds like she's acting completely normal. I adopted an 8 week old kitten and he smelled terrible for the first few days, we switched him to wet food, and he smells perfectly fine now :)
