My 13 year old, blind in both eyes since birth, Persian (Angel), is getting constipated about twice a week now. She is on a canned food diet 80% of the time now with added water. Is there anything I can give her to help her? Can I use canned unsweetened pumpkin?

Plain canned pumpkin puree (basically 100% pumpkin) is fine. You can freeze the canned pumpkin in ice cube trays and pop the frozen cubes into a baggie for later use. Let a cube thaw before giving it to your cat.

You can also use Miralax or the generic cheaper equivalent (only ingredient is polyethylene glycol 3350). Ask the vet first if using Miralax is ok and what the proper dose for your cat is ad how often to give it (ex. once a day). If the vet okays using Miralax, the proper way to give it is to measure out the vet recommended dose into a bowl and dissolve it in a spoonful or two of water. Then add some canned food to the bowl and mix to combine. Your cat won't notice the Miralax at all.
