Hi,

I've come to this site as I think we need some outside perspective on the health of out Bengal boy, Loki - who's 18 months. He's an outdoor cat, but he never goes outside. He will sit by the back door, but not stray further than a few feet from the house. He's never left the back garden.

For the past 3 months, he's seemed 'off' - and by off, I mean, sleeping a lot more, diarrhoea (not every day, sporadic) and sickness (again, not every day at all, but when he does, it's mostly bile)

He still has a healthy appetite, we feed him on raw meats, with access to kibble and he drinks happily from his water fountain, however he does appear underweight.

We have been the vets last week, who has had him on antibiotics and pain relief, which has improved his general out look slightly - but we just feel as though something still isn't right.

Recently in the past couple of days, Loki has started licking the pavement outside our house. For the past week we've been concerned about his weight, and upped his intake of food (to little and often over set meals) and we have noticed now a slight increase in weight, but still nothing substantial.

Today is the first day we've been worried again. He has been out of sorts, turned his nose up at food and literally gagged when food is put in front of him. Still drinking water, and going the toilet normally. However, did vomit the antibiotics up straight away, and now he's took himself to bed.

Does anyone have any idea what could possibly be wrong? We will be going the vets again later this week, but I just needed to get my thoughts down on this forum to see if anyone has ever dealt with these circumstances with their cat.

Thanks in advance.

I would get him to the vet sooner rather than later.

Did the vet run any blood work? His symptoms could be caused by any number of things...pancreatitis, malabsorption disorder, eating something toxic.

I don't feed raw, but many that do suggest not feeding dry food with it as this can cause GI upset.

An outdoor Bengal? I've literally never heard of that. Most people wouldn't even consider allowing their Bengal outdoors because people would love to snatch up a pretty Bengal.

By feeding "raw meats" are you feeding a balanced diet with a pre-mix or PMR? You MUST feed a balanced raw diet, especially for a high energy Bengal that needs a proper balance of vitamins and minerals. Diarrhea is not normal. You need to get him checked by a vet.
