Hi, Happy Saturday.

What would be your dream job? Is it the job you are doing now or anything like the job you are doing now?

I teach English for a living. It's got it's advantages. Most of my students take lessons online, which means I can work from home and live in the middle of nowhere without facing a long commute every day. The downside is that there is a lot of sitting down looking at a computer involved.

My dream job would be something outdoorsy. I'd like to be a gardener or a park keeper because then I could be outside, be creative and get plenty of exercise. I'd also like to work with animals though. Maybe a mounted park ranger with a sideline in garden design? Yeah, that sounds fun.

How about you?

I am so focused on retirement now it is difficult to imagine a different job. I suppose if I could do anything I would like to write or something else creative. What I do now is slightly creative (florist) but there is a mountain of paperwork and record keeping. I don't even mind that but in recent years the company has down sized (like most) and everyone is doing twice the work so no time for enjoying the work. I suppose in a perfect world I would write about cats and get paid for it!

I would love to be a cookie baker. Own a little shop and just bake cookies. Somebody else could out in the front, doing all the selling. I just want to bake.

Or.....

I would love to have a bed & breakfast with the cats. It's discrimination, I know, but I'd like to cater only to people who truly loved cats. Lots of cat decor throughout, our cats would have the run of the place. Serving only breakfasts, no lunches or dinners. An older house with maybe five bedrooms. And did I mention the cats?

I would love to open a HUGE outdoor shelter for cats without homes. Have no worries about money to support it, and have a vet on call to tend to the injured and the neuterings. Then I would go from town to town raising money to TNR and get all the strays taken care of and set up with caregivers. A big dream I know, I take care of as many as I can but it seems hopeless at times. I may be depressed, we just buried another stray that was hit on the road, he laid there for two days, I kept hoping he had a family that would bury him, no such luck, poor baby.  Twelve little graves now, way too many in 5 years. I may need to open a cemetery, but I guess I already have.  I just focus on one cat at a time, and love them while I can!

I honestly don't know. I'd love to work with animals - maybe a cat sanctuary or something like that. I'd ADORE to have a herd of semi-wild exmoors too. There's something so magical about gaining a wild pony's trust, and knowing that I'd be helping with breed conservation would mean a lot too (there are only around 500 exmoors left in the world).

I really like crafting too, so maybe something with that.

I'm retired after working for years at various jobs.  The downside being that I don't have a pension, the upside is that I worked in a lot of VERY interesting places, and moved on when my interest waned.  I'm a restless soul, I suppose.

If I had had the math skills to do the science, I'd have gone to vet school.  Had I known about him in time, I'd possibly have gone to Flag Is Up Farm, and studied horse training with Monty Roberts.  I probably would have been happiest there.

my dream 'job' would be to live 'off the grid', doing everything i needed to by myself. i would allow myself a computer, though the electricity to power it would come from natural sources.

I'm retired now, but I was extraordinarily fortunate to have my dream job while I was working.  I researched plant viruses at a lab located on a 6000 acre research farm.  The work was interesting and creative, my co-workers and boss were great, the pay was decent and at lunch, I could walk out the door and ramble through beautiful woods and fields.   If I did go back to work, I'd probably apply for my old job!

My dream job was working at the animal shelter. I lost it when someone else got my job even though I worked hard at it. Didn't have a degree in anything, so I wish I would have.

My job now? No where a dream..  I'm a cashier.. I don't think that's anyone's dream job.

It would be working with animals, not necessarily just cats.  I am also a dog lover I just don't have one now because I am back in an apartment.  I love walking dogs and doing basic obedience training.  I don't get into teaching dogs tricks just basic obedience.  I think doing that with dogs in a rescue greatly increases their chances of a successful adoption.

I am doing medical billing, I have kind of been a jack of all trades through my life.  It is very repetitive but I am working from home and can set my own hours.  The pay isn't great but it certainly could be worse.

I keep thinking about that, but, realistically, it wouldn't work for me.  Long-standing arthritis and intractable muscle cramps means I actively need hot water on tap at all time, and such.  I could, and would, do it to some extent, but totally off the grid is beyond me.  And at my age, there is a limit to the appeal of subsistence living.  I'm too old and crippled to haul fire wood and water, and to stoop for hours in a garden.

I'd own a goat farm and raise goats for their milk and fiber and meat and companionship
Maybe I could train goats to be therapy animals, too, or rent out the goats to clear brush from overgrown land.

That does sound like the perfect job. All you'd need to add is a pony to ride around the woods on and a colony of friendly ferals to visit every day, then it would be heaven.

There is a lady that lives not far from me that has a pet goat. I've seen her taking it for walks on a lead, like some giant horned dog.

Could you kill a goat for its meat? No way could I do that.

If I had to do it all over again I would train as an EMT or something like that. Helping people. Or work for the ASPCA or an animal sanctuary. Something worthwhile instead of just earning money & spending it.

Me? No. Why? (When I was a teenager, I worked as a kitchen slave in our local hospital. That was taking the food carts up to the floors, then picking them up and trucking them down to the kitchen. Running the dishes through the dishwasher. That kind of stuff. About 3-4 hours a day after school and on weekends.

Why do you ask?

Because you love cooking! I wondered if you'd ever had the opportunity to make a living out of it.

No. And probably if I did, maybe I wouldn't like it so much then. I don't know. I just think it would be neat to have a little cookie shop. Nothing spectacular. Just a place for people to come in, enjoy some cookies with tea or coffee. I've often thought that, in my town, it might work. We're eclectic enough that it might work. I wouldn't get rich from it, but I'm not looking for that.

I sometimes watch the Robert Irvine show where he goes in and helps failing restaurants.  A very common theme among the people who own these restaurants is that they love to cook, are good cooks and thought that owning a restaurant would be a natural thing for them to do.
