I was wondering what the most highly recommended rock salt/ice melt there is out there for cats.  I'm concerned with her trying to eat it, as she is still a kitten and likes to pick up things off the floor.   I see that Petco sells one called Pestell Paw Thaw Pet Friendly Ice Melter, and both Lowes and Home Depot each sell a different brand.  None of them actually state whether or not it is safe if a cat ingests it, only that it is safe for their paws.  Can anyone help me on this one?

The best I personally know of is this make, which is supposedly more natural:

Along with being kinder to paws, it's supposedly safe to digest in small amounts. It can be pricey though.

Other then that there really isn't any product out there that is accident-oral safe that I know of, other then using a temporary option (Until your little one outgrows the habit) like making your own and/or using kitty litter. Kitty litter doesn't melt ice of course, but it helps with traction.

Best of luck!

It took me a minute to understand why you were asking about rock salt... Lol Where I live snow only happens once in a blue moon and causes mass panic and the state to shut down.
