Okay so yesterday I bought more cat food at Petsmart. I bought quite a few flavors/brands for my cats to try, one of the brands was Whiskas. I bought their Chef's Favorites (tuna, beef, turkey, chicken flavors), as I am typing this they're devouring their food. My question is, is this a okay brand? Like compared to 9 Lives, Fancy Feast, and Friskies? I think so. I'm talking about Whiskas pouch wet food not their kibble varieties.

Happy Thanksgiving!

In some ways it is a little better than the other brands you mentioned- meat is listed as the # 1 ingredient, and contains no carrageenan or Menadione, however...it does have corn starch, soy and wheat gluten which is hard for a lot of cats to digest and BHA, which has been known to cause cancer.   I would recommend rotating it with some higher quality food if possible.

Oh I don't rotate with this brand. I use to buy it years ago for my first cat (he was un-neutered and outside of course...) but now that I'm better educated, I usually don't use it. Yeah, I know about the BHA. They banned it for human food for that reason.

I've just glanced the the ingredients of both (neither are available here). Provided your cats aren't sensitive to wheat, I'd say that it's slightly better than 9lives - mostly because named meat is the first ingredient - though not quite as good as the fancy feast patés (which are grain free).

It sounds like it was a great deal, so if it agrees with them, keep it in rotation for now :bigthumb: It certainly sounds like they're enjoying it, and that counts for a lot :)

Particular 9 Lives pates are suitable and healthy foods for your cat.  Specific recipes lack corn, wheat and soy.  The Meat By Products and Poultry By Products are perfectly fine.  Just make sure there is some muscle meat protein noted among the ingredients.

Dry   Whiskas  food isn't  good not enough nutrients for  the cat. I do buy some  canned  stuff every once in  a  while. Whiskas is  cheap but i think  it's better to give  good  quality  professional dry cat food there are many brand slike Ontario, Royal cannin and many others..much better for your cat..Spare a  few  dollars  to give your cat the best you can.
