Swollen and wound is open after being neutered

My cat was neutered today. His wound has completely open and is leaking very little blood. I took him to the emergency room. He was given a cone and was told the swelling is normal. I've had alot of cats neutered and I've never seen the testes open up the way. And hechas lots of swelling. Should I be concerned? He sleep then gets up and runs around confused until I can grab him and calm him down. He is a very sweet gentle boy so this behaviour is really off for him
