Is it normal for cat to turn mean near birth?

Hi - We have a kitty - took in a stray about three months ago. (Vet check said she was spayed - clearly wrong.) She was never super affectionate except with my husband, but the last few days very affectionate. But today she meowed sort of mean at us and hissed a few times and now does not like her belly touched at all. Do you think she is just uncomfortable? I thought she was supposed to get friendly every day, so now I am thrown off. My estimate is she will be 9 weeks this Friday (in two days.) My neighbor who has had litters before said she will have them in a few days, for sure less than a week.

Also last two days she has been giving off pheromone scent. Same scent she gives when we take her to the vet - which she dislikes!

Yes, it happens sometimes.   One reason may be the hormone swallings - much different hormones  overhelming her, inclusive defensive hormones..

But it can also be she has simply some precontractions (normal), and being thus in uncomfortable and in pains, doesnt has the same patience as usuall...

Thanks. She is not rubbing her face all over things no. She seems a little better today. Lat night she spent a few hours laying on her back and I can see those kittens moving around in her.

There will prob be a day soon, when she wants her belly rubbed.  Do so.  Its good massage, its nice, and it help things keep going on.

Okay. Will keep you updated. Last night and today she has slept so hard. For several hours in her back and I could see babies moving. Tonight she still seems uncomfortable.
