I see I'm not the only one experiencing this. I have had cats most of my life and this is a first. I did get him very young. He is very personable I do kind of miss the sound. he  seems   to be happy no problems

Maybe your cat will start purring later? I semi-adopted one of my sister's cats when I lived with her and her cat would purr loudly and knead me. Since I couldn't have her when I was able to care for a cat, I adopted a mini adult version who ended up not kneading me or purring. She does come over for a second to try to clean my hair but just leaves. Must be because it's confusing to her. Finally, after 2+ years, she has been purring sometimes now. A low purr, but very nice to hear!

Link doesn't really purr much. Never has. But.... sometimes I can touch his neck and feel a purr. But I rarely hear it. Doesn't mean he isn't happy and doesn't love our family. Just doesn't purr or kneed. On the other hand Fury will purr and air kneed if you look at him cross eyed.

Yes, that's what's most important. Do you brush your cat, play with him, and give him treats? I don't play enough with my cat, but maybe she purrs now because I brush her and pick her up to snuggle her before giving her treats. I had to work up to getting her used to me cuddling her.

My adopted kitten didn't purr for months unless he was eating. I wondered what was wrong with him as he seemed quite happy otherwise. He was a bit timid. Now he purrs all the time! When i enter the room, he rolls over for a tummy rub and purrs like crazy!

My Chula never purrs out loud, but I can feel the vibrations in her throat so know she does purr. Her brother, Paul, also purrs silently except occasionally when he's really enjoying being brushed.  Then he sounds like he's sanding wood.  All of my other cats have always purred out loud but I've since learned that it's not unusual for happy cats to only purr silently, or not at all.

With some cats, you never know. I'm surprised my rescue cat purrs sometimes now and is a lap cat sometimes. We've been through different phases throughout our 2.5 year relationship. At first, she didn't ever want her back pet and would bite quickly. She used to sleep elsewhere at night in my 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment. I'd hoped she would sleep next to my head. Now she does! It's primarily because we moved into one room. After sleeping on her cat tree in the room at first, she now sleeps on a heated pad next to my head because of the winter chill. She does move around every so often though so I wouldn't be surprised if she suddenly starts sleeping elsewhere. She's started rolling on her back again to show me her white tummy. =)

i dont know he sleeps at my feet and regularly rolls over to give me his belly but he gets overstimulated rather quickly. but he loves people and tries to get in every apartment in building.
