Good day.

I got a 3 week old kitten as the SPCA. His name is Blue. The moment we got home he went to the sand box and was very constipated, my heart broke to see him in so much pain. I gave him soft kitten food. The next day he had diarrhea. I did give him a little bit of cows milk.........yes I know that was wrong. But it has been a week and it has not cleared up. I gave him a deworming tablet as well. Yesterday a little bit of blood came out at the end of his poop. His bum is very raw due to the diarrhea. I know he is not sick because he eats well and plays a lot.

Can anyone give me advice what to do and what can be wrong? I raised so many cats in my life, the first time I struggle with this.

Do you mean three weeks old or three months old?

A three week old kitten should still be with his mother. If his mother isn't there for some reason he should still be on KMR, not soft food or cows milk.

I guess you mean three months? I can't imagine the SPCA letting such a young kitten go to a new home.

goats milk is safe, unlike cow milk.  Can you get RAW goats milk? fresh or frozen?  It could even help here...  Some type of probiotic may help too - even a plain, full fat mild youghurt may do the duty.

What exactly for food are you giving him during this week?

If he has much diarrhea, he has also losses of salts.  You must compensate for this.  Easiest is to use a bottle of mineral water.  You see on the label if it contains different salts...   And use this as part of his drinking water.  You can add a little honey as glucose sugar source to this water...

You should see a vet. He may need treatment for parasites or an intestinal infection.

No 3 weeks old. Someone took the kitten away from the mother and dropped him of at the SPCA. I was heartbroken when I saw this small kitten. Thats why I took him home. They only gave him adult pellets that were so hard he couldnt eat it at all. He was terrified in that cage. But he is fine now. Gave him soft kitten food and after a few days the diarrhea cleared up. Cant understand how anyone can take a animal away from there mother while so young. He is soooo cute and goes everywhere I do.

OMG He's adorable! I can understand why you wanted to take him home as soon as you saw him. What's his name?
