Juniper is my new kitten :) She never stops purring and loves darting around the house. So far her older "siblings" (my other two cats) don't seem to like her much, but I'm given them lots of love and treats.

I haven't read that one, but I have read other articles about introducing cats to each other. I think that Tilly will get used to Juniper fairly quickly, they sniff each other and Tilly will occasionally hiss at Juniper through the door separating them, but she's getting better. Archibald, on the other hand, has been much more difficult and has been moody since we brought Juniper home. Archie has slight anxiety problems and I give him remedies for it (still trying to find a good brand, but Licks Calm are working decent). He's fine with Tilly, though, so hopefully he'll eventually learn to at least tolerate Juniper.

Wow ! She is gorgeous!
I have had my kittens for 2 months now and I really took my time with their introduction to my two adult resident cats. The first to become accepting of the kittens was my male. He hissed and growled for about 2 weeks. Then one day he just stopped. I felt comfortable with allowing him in the room I was keeping them in and he started grooming Sassy immediately. My adult female is another story. She still hisses at the kittens at times. She is a moody girl. One moment they can be near her the next moment they can't. However, she only hisses and bats at them lightly so I think eventually she will stop also. I was surprised that she was the one that was resistant to the kittens presence because I was sure it would be Frankie my male. He turned out to be a big ol lover boy!
In thr beginning I had the kittens quarantined to my bed room with the door closed. After they received a clean bill of health ( or so I thought ) I had the kittens in a play pen and would leave thr bed room door open so Frankie and Xena could smell the kittens if they chose to do so. Then one day I just let them out....
On another note I am now treating all four cats for parasites because apparently the first dose of meds for the kittens didnt do the job.
All will be well with your little baby and your residential cats as long ss you do the introduction slowly imo. Have fun with the kitten!

Thanks! This is the first kitten I've had since I was around 6. My other cats I adopted as adults. I'm hoping Archie will get over it soon. He scratched me good today because he's so angry about the new arrival... I'm going for a slow introduction. They can smell and hear each other and I give them treats when they get close.

A mistake I had made was making the kittens my world and not giving my adults the same amount of attention. I really didn't give it much thought either until one day I was using the bathroom and Frankie came in and seemed desperate for my attention. He kept standing up as if he needed me to pick him up. It was unusual for him... so I did pick him up and he was such a baby in my arms. Didnt want me to put him down. Xena was the same way... she hates being held but she became extra vocal and layed down showing her belly. I had to really give them their own quality time and play sessions especially when I was keeping the bedroom door closed AND staying in the bedroom with the kittens. Poor things....
Now I make sure I give all 4 attention. They all have different personalities so in my house it isnt a one size fits all. Its fun though. Frankie needs me to sit on the couch cause he is a lap cat. Xena loves when I go into the bathroom so I sit on the commode and let her do her thing. The kittens ... well they are kittens so at this point they love being fed and then play and sleep. They usually have time for me when they are ready to take a nap. Lol
Its nice when all 4 of them come to bed with me..... Cat heaven!

What a precious little doll.

I adopted two kittens in October, Minnie and Iris.  They are the sweetest girls.

My Basil (13 years old) has accepted them without a problem.  And he was the one I was most worried about.  In the past he's gotten into fights with my now rainbow babies, Sandra
 and Thomas
.  We used to have to pull them apart.  He's even fought with Yunis (6 years old), but the two have learned to live together and tolerate each other.

Yunis is still hissing at the kittens from time to time.  He is a very shy and timid cat, and he doesn't like sudden quick movements and the kittens don't know any better.  They run towards him trying to play.  His reaction is to puff himself up, hiss and run off.  He's getting better though.  Minnie was sitting on the bed with him this morning and she even stretched out and touched his foot.  He looked bored at her and just went back to sleep.

I think with time and a lot of patience, cat's will learn to live with each other peacefully.
