Back story, I took in a stray a few months ago who turned out to be pregnant.  She had five kittens, and I still have one male who should be heading to a new home this weekend.  Mom cat is currently in heat and I just saw her sixteen week old son mounting her.  I don't think it was happening long and can't be that effective he's so small? Right? Do I actually need to be even vaguely concerned of her getting pregnant?  How many times have I heard "It only takes one time".  He's still nursing from her for god's sake.  But I've seen some sites say some cats can hit puberty at four months (I don't think he's started spraying.  He peed on my bed out of nowhere the other day, but it seemed to be just normal urine--not strong scented, not a vertical surface, tail not raised).  I know I need to get mum spayed but I'm in Korea where it costs ~500$ and I won't have the financial means to afford that for another month or two.

Are there specific signs (the meowing from being in heat ending?) the are signs I can not worry at all.  Or am I being actually insane by asking about this.

Please reassure me I can't handle another litter of kittens, dear god.

theoretically its fully possible he is mature enough.  So unsvoren is best.   The best and safest course for you is to spay her asap, or at least, as soon the heat is over.  You will "kill several flies in one stroke"  with this.

Did she roar?  He fled afterwards chased by her?  did she rolled around as in pains, and licked herself?  If so it was a fully succesfull mating...  If not, we can NOT know for sure....

I strongly doubt that a 4-month-old male kitten can successfully impregnate a fully grown female cat. He did respond to her heat cycle, which comes as a natural male instinct, however, he likely is not quite sexually mature enough to accomplish the deed quite yet.

Now, I too think the heavy money betting is against a succesfully impregnating.  But why take any risks, especially  when the spaying is anyways waiting around the corner.  The only question is - do it now when the heat is over, or if it may wait  a couple of weeks more.

Sigh, surgery is booked for Saturday.  Managed to get the little guy adopted today (finally!) but I guess the spay has to happen, as much as I wanted to wait until after the very expensive trip I booked last week.  Good thing I already did my Christmas shopping I guess.  Thanks for the advice.  I just hope things go well since she's still in heat today.  (My Korean coteacher booked the procedure at a vet nearby, where they only speak Korean, so I don't know for sure what got communicated!)
