Hi,

I'm going to get straight to the point. Felix has been peeing everywhere for the past 3 days. I only noticed yesterday. He got fixed when he was less than a year old so I don't understand why. He has peed on the carpet, curtains, floor, my mom's handbag, plastic bags, the stairs, the table, etc. On top of that, the litter box is also full with pee sprays. I don't know what's going on whether it's a behavioral problem or a medical issue but I'm very concerned. We can't even let him upstairs anymore because he'll start to pee on everything. There hasn't been any changes in his life but he's been fighting with Smokey a lot more. Please, help. I'd like to get this sorted out as soon as possible for Felix's well being and also the items in my home.

It sounds like a medical issue and he needs to go to the vet asap!

I would take him to a vet to be checked for a UTI (urinary tract infection). I have one cat who gets a UTI about once a year and the first symptom I notice is her peeing outside the box.

It came on suddenly and seems like he is having a lot of urgency. He is likely in a lot of pain.

A sudden change in behavior should always be regarded as a medical issue first.

Okay, thank you. My mom said I should make an appointment to see a vet immediately and I plan on doing so. She suggested that it might be diabetes which would make sense but of course I am not a veterinarian so I will be taking him to the vet if I can work that into my schedule this week.

I thought it might be early signs of diabetes because their diet isn't the greatest.

Can your mom take him? He could start to block which can be deadly.

Crystals or stones (formed in his bladder) can block the urethra and cause pain or burning (like when we get cystitis), and make him want to pee all the time. A bladder infection can also make him pee everywhere. It is a serious condition, and he does need a vet quickly, as usually it is very treatable with the right antibiotics. Left alone, it can be fatal.

Thank you for the information. I will get on that immediately.

I just had to take my cat in for a urinary tract infection and the earlier you get Felix in the better for his health.  Double check any pee spots for anything that looks kind of like salt (crystals) or if it' off color.  Those can be sure signs that it's a urinary tract infection.  My cat just needed antibiotics but if it is a blockage for Felix he might need an extended vet stay.  A urinary tract infection makes them have to go to the bathroom constantly and is uncomfortable, that's usually what causes the accidents.   If you have an animal hospital in the area they may take in a walk in patient, or an Animal urgent care.

Couldn't make it to the vet tonight so I had my mom boil some herbal bush leaves and gave it to him. He's been urinating less frequently and isn't peeing outside the litter box. He is also starting to cause trouble like he did before he got sick.
