I am looking for any advice.

About 5-6 years ago we took in a neighbors cat after they went through a divorce and no longer cared for the cat. They know we have him and were happy for us to keep  him that they gave us his Vaccination Certificates. From this, we have guessed his age at around 13-14 years old. So he is getting on a bit, he was always an outdoor cat and since having him from the beginning he has never toileted in the house and has always gone outside to pee or poo, he normally returns after around 5 minutes to a couple of hours. The odd time he has been out a day at the most. He is a very friendly cat so he goes to our neighbors houses, which cat's tend to do. But since Friday 18th November, he has been missing since 2:30pm. We have tried everything to find him. Asking around neighbors, looking under cars, in bushes, all around his usual territory with his blanket for scent. I have contact the local shelters and vets in case a kind citizen has taken him into a vet but no luck there. I have asked the local help pages on Facebook to see if anyone has seen him, but still no look but a lot of lovely people are keeping an eye out for him in their local area. His family is worried sick about him, he has just got over a really bad illness where he didn't eat, drink or move for weeks. We think maybe he was harmed and was under a lot of shock and stress. He finally got back up on his feet and was eating again but now he just hasn't came home. I please urge that if anyone has any advice to give which we may not have tried yet then please, feel free to give any advice you can. He is an absolutely gorgeous little man and he is hugely missed by his family who love him dearly.

Thank you in advance :) xx

have you tried looking around outside at dusk with a flashlight? sometimes they get spooked and get misconstrued about what direction they need to go in. I have had good luck finding my bratty girl with the flashlight at dusk when it's almost dark-their eyes shine better. plus you can see through the shrubs and leaves better. have you circled around four to six houses away from you? cats do wander-also knock on every door-maybe he decided to move in and they let him.

a few years ago my pumps did this. she was 5 houses down hanging out in their house. I called and called for 4 days and didn't know what to think=she was shy and not friendly so when I saw her hanging out in their yard-she wouldn't even look at me when I called her name. It was like she was in a new world and I was invisible. Maybe your kitty got confused and is hanging out a few houses down.

I don't let my cats out without me there with them anymore-they still go out but I venture in the yard and neighborhood with them. my neighbors cats hang out with my girls..it's kind of funny...maybe see if one of the neighbors cats is hanging out in a certain area that you don't normally see them.

Angel Floey did this 14 years ago with neighbor's kitten-she was sitting infront of a shrub and wouldn't move=come to find out she was "protecting" the kitten....maybe you can find some clues of where your kitty is.

other people have put the catbox outside with their poop in it if you can locate poop. they need something that smells familiar to them. your shirt. a blanket. etc. etc.

Do a search for local chat boards, both general and cat-related; post your content there.  Also ask area vets/clinics/"pet" supply stores if you can post a flyer.  Many will let you do so.  *PRAYERS* and good luck, and keep us informed, please.
