Hey all,

I will be getting a couple of foster kittens in the next couple of months. With my previous fosters, I have kept them in my bedroom all night, which is always fun for a couple of nights, but not really sustainable for me for a month straight. The bed always turns into a NASCAR racetrack at 3 AM, my head becomes a trampoline... you know how it goes.

I do not have a spare bedroom and my only bathroom is much too small. I don't think I could even fit a litter box in the bathroom.

Any suggestions for safe playpens, cages, etc. where kittens could sleep? Hoping for something large enough for lots of toys and stimulation and of course of a litter box. I was considering a very large soft-sided collapsible play pen, but I'm realizing that little kitten claws could very easily get caught.

Again, this is just for while I sleep! My fosters always get plenty of snuggles and supervised playtime throughout the house.

Thanks in advance!

I don't like to use the tall kitty condos for baby kittens, because they climb the sides of the cage and I'm afraid it would hurt them if they fell. I use a large rabbit cage with a solid bottom (many rabbit cages have wire bottoms, be careful!). Something like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/A-E-Cage...53308&wl11=online&wl12=39114161&wl13=&veh=sem
That one is 4 feet by 2 feet, so that's plenty of room for a litter of kittens.

I typically use an XL size wire dog crate for litters of baby kittens; however, we do have one if these two. https://www.petedge.com/zpetedgemai...String=Guardian+gear+pioneer&wec-locale=en_US

I prefer the crate as it is easier to clean, I can attach metal crate bowls, which help keep babies from walking in the water, and, you can attach a ferret hammock for babies to sleep in and create another level (I put a small cat tree in that they can climb to get into hammock)

This is a great idea! Easy to clean, transport, and customize. And a little easier on the wallet than a multi-level cat cage. I love the idea of adding a ferret hammock.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Just wanted to clarify, that I prefer the *wire* crate over the soft one. The soft sided is easier to carry and store; but, is mich harder to sanitize than the wire crate.

Oh yes, I should've clarified, I was also talking about the wire crate.
