Can anyone tell me what canned foods have no grains and no careegan and hopefully any exist w non of that gum stuff that i read is bad for them
I recently switched from lifes abundance as my cat didnt care for it after i ran out and gave him albacore a few days in a row..he then refeused to eat it so the only pet store near me sells weruva and he seemed to like the chicken in gravy but after a few times he now doesnt eat the chicken only licks all the juice off idk if its cuz its shredded chicken maybe he doesnt like the texture.because he loves chicken But ive tried just anoit every other flavor of weruva and he doesnt like any of them. Every other can i look at of other brands has carageen in in. I cant afford tgis eitger as it actually is costing ke more buying this than the lifes abundance did ordering it. He also seemed to have more energy and be silkier when eating lifes abundance but i thought weruva was healthier...any help would be appreciated i Google thismany times and its amazing that i cant find a list if foods thatvare grain and carageen free and i am not feeding raw its too much work an probably costs even more

I also liked the idea of Weruva paw lickin chicken, but like your cat, my Nellie also loved the juice but not the long strands of chicken so much.

And then I found Tiki Cat puka puka chicken which looks very much like the paw lickin' but the chicken strands are smaller and ... voila! ... my kitty scarfs it down.

Every ingredient is perfect.  No carrageenan, no guar gum, no additives, just really high grade chicken.  However, it isn't cheap (not that I care.  Only the best for my cats!)

I wish my Norman-Jeane also liked it (she "likes" it but she prefers Merrick limited ingredient chicken).

Merrick has guar gum in it but other than that, it is a decent alternative for cats who won't do the puka puka chicken strands.

I am going crazy researching the best canned foods for my cats.  It's like getting college credits.

The more I discover, the more I become depressed.

Good luck.

Like yourself I have done a lot of reading on the best food I can get. I live in the UK and dont have the variety that is in US. I feed my cats Sheba. It is grain free, reasonably priced and all three love it. I dont know if you can get it on Canada but its worth a google.

The only suggestion I have is to ask Tiki Cat to be kind enough to send a sample can of their Puka Puka chicken to see if your cat will take to it.

My cat also denounced the strands from Weruva but for some reason adores the Puka Puka because the strands are much smaller.

Sometimes independent pet stores will special order you products that they generally don't carry because of lack of interest of whatever. It's worth asking that store if they can order you some of the Tiki Cat cans. Just call them if you don't want to make the drive back.

OnlyNaturalPet.com sells individual cans of food if you just want to try the food out.

Have you tried Soulistic? The company that makes Weruva also makes Soulistic. You can find Soulistic at Petco stores.

Soulistic Good Karma has xanthan gum.

http://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcos...chicken-dinner-adult-canned-cat-food-in-gravy

It is made by Weruva and if you placed it in dishes side by side with Weruva Paw Lickin Chicken, you might not be able to tell one from the other so if your kitty doesn't eat the PLC, he may not like the GK or the Harvest Sunrise which is the GK with bits of pumpkin. Mine prefer the Soulistic to the Weruva.

There aren't many foods without gums and without carrageenan: we feed our cats a lot of Tiki as well as Feline Naturals in their canned rotation. Feline Naturals is a pate but even our cats, who generally prefer shreds, love it.

Most of what we feed is raw or homecooked food: one cat can't eat potato and I don't want either of them to eat carrageenan or a lot of gums. (They do have some Weruva foods with gums in their canned rotation but it's being cut back.) Freeze-dried raw food is easy to store and prepare, and I use a supplement for homemade cooked food so that's pretty easy, too.

Natural Value, Purina Pro Plan True Nature, Sheba and Whole Earth Farms make wet recipes that do not contain carrageenan.  You'll need to check individual recipes/flavors to see which ones are suitable to you. Those brands are all available from online retailers at reasonable prices.  By the way, the flavors I have in mind are grain-free also.

There is guar gum in each brand that I noted.  And grain-free does not necessarily mean carbohydrate free.  Typically the carbs (if any) are potato, some kind of legume, and a root vegetable.

You're going to have to compromise somewhere because all commercial canned foods have some issue. Weruva does contain gums, which in my opinion isn't a dealbreaker. Feline Naturals, Tikicat, Weruva, Ziwipeak, are all good options. You might also consider trying some freeze dried foods such as Primal, Stella and Chewy, or Instinct Raw Market.

Tiki also just came out with a new food called Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse. http://www.tikipets.com/velvet-mousse/ It's a very soft whipped food. No shreds or chunks, so I'm sure gravy licky kitties will love it. My cats devoured it when I got them a pouch for a treat. It does have 1 gum, but not a deal breaker for me.

If you're not willing to feed home cooked or raw, you're going to have to compromise. Honestly, if you use a pre-mix, cooked/raw would be super easy and it wouldn't have any of your "no" ingredients. And homemade raw is actually cheaper than high quality canned for me.

Also a mum of two cats! We LOVE Wellness brand- it's on the pricier end for good reason. A first thing to note: it's grain free and contains no fillers. Secondly, the first few things on the list of ingredients: high quality meat! Amazing! No added hormones, steroids, and they refuse to use animal by-products. Thirdly, they supplement the rest with awesome fruits & veggies, and lots of flaxseed, salmon oil (essential fatty acid) and taurine (SUPER important for healthy hearts). One note: one of our little ones has a sensitive stomach, so we stay away from their wet food with beef, as we've found that many kittens don't tolerate digesting it well.

Haven't tried their dry food (Simply Nourish is a GREAT dry food company), but their treats are also fantastic!!!

Hope this helps!
