Hi guys im new here and just wanted to ask your opinions on something i recently got two 8 week old kittens from two different litters i was told the little boy tiger(tabby)amd the girl maggie(black and white) were 8 weeks old but the little boy seems a lit younger he doesnt know how to eat or play as much as the girl and im not sure if this is him being younger or just his disposition .....heres two pics of them :)

How sure are you on the age / the seller?   Its quite common they do lie a little - usually selling them earlier.    With almost adult kittens they may say they are younger...

Another option he was alone kitten, and could nurse momma as long he wanted, and hadnt no sibling to play with and take examples from...

On this one pic we see its difficult to take any conclusions, but he may be somewhat younger than 8 weeks, 6-7 is possible.

Anyway, NOW he has come to a good home, has a pal to cuddle and play with, and take example from.   It will be better soon enough!

Good luck!

Kittens learn their manners, and their boundaries, between the ages of 6 -12 weeks from their siblings and their moms. So when they are taken so young, now it is up to you to teach them. It is good you got two, it will help tremendously, they will teach each other, and keep each other company. Your little boy does look smaller, but it could just be his genes or fighting for food in a large litter. Different temperaments will be discovered, one may be hyper and bold, the other laid back and calm. Kittens are a handful, be ready for antics and a LOT of playing and getting into situations they may not be able to handle. All blind cords should be out of reach, as should electrical cords and anything poisonous, kittens can and will get into anything! But they will also bring you tremendous pleasure and more love than you can handle, you will be blessed for giving these two beautiful babies a home. All the luck, and keep us posted, welcome to the site!

Have several litters,  and not too much too much freedom, one or at most two rooms accessible. The litters dont need be fancy, baking pans are OK in this age and size. non clumping litter...

Thank guys the lil guy is doing so much better after a couple of days of tlc and his new playmate giving him some loving :) they are both full of energy and love playing its amazing their different personalitys though tiger (the boy) is really laid back and chilled it takes a lot for him to really get into play and he just loves sitting on you whereas maggie is full of energy always on the go and very mischeivious lol she purrs super loud though when she gets petted lol

Yes, its probably more than just to wash it off with saline water or tea water...  The most common is the vet prescribes some antibiotic ointment, and sometimes they do it by phone.  At least, if its your regular vet.

So my recommendation is you do contact your / a vet.   The vet may want to see this himself.   Its really the only safe course.

Yes, clean the eye with a warm cloth. You may need a tube of terramycin, which is an antibiotic ointment for the eyes, as Stefan said. The eye infection is common in kittens, but usually does not clear on its own, so do call your vet.

is it fresh blood?  if so, hopefully because of straining - what was teh poo consistence?

if they arent dewormed may be from some parasite - or dewormed with a too specific and narrow  dewormer.

Wise if you contact your vet

I agree with Stefan. It could be from a bacterial infection in the intestines, or from a parasite. Both are not uncommon, but do require treatment by a vet. Take a stool sample with you to the vet, and keep us posted.

Hey guys i rang the vet they said to give them some worming tablets and ring back jf their poos were still bloody....and they have changed back to normal yayyyy.....i now have another question the little boy kitten just doesnt seem to be liked to be cuddled or petted if that makes sense he will run away even if hes sleeping the majority of the time whereas the female alwayd wants attention and purrs loudly he very rarely purrs i also think he is a bit skinny can feel his back hip bones im feedi n g them kitten food both dry and wet mixed with kitten milk as well as plain kitten milk and plain water ....could it be that the girl kitten is being overpowering to him or could this just be in his nature?? He does love being patted by my 5 year old son :)

It sounds like it's his personality. Do try to observe when he eats to make sure he is getting enough food. Glad the poops are better! [emoji]128522[/emoji]
