Hello everyone!

I have a 12 year old Himalayan named Cookie -- she is very sweet and loving. In the last couple of months, I've noticed that she has water that drips down her face sometimes when I hold her, and I can't tell if it is coming from her eyes or her mouth. It seems like it's a clear liquid and it does not have any type of scent. Do you think that this is common for Himalayans (I've read up that it is) or should I take her to the vet? She hasn't been in quite a while, and I'm not sure if this problem is serious enough. If it is, I will definitely take her right away.

Thank you very much!!!!

Hi, welcome to TCS!

Is Cookie the cat in your avatar? She sure is gorgeous!

As a senior cat, I would take her to the vet anyway, she should see one at least once a year (twice would be ideal, but that's not always feasible). I don't know if the tearing is concerning or not, but you know, just in case

I would ask them to do a senior panel to check things out, there's a lot of problems that can be picked up on early with regular check ups, and in the long run, it's really cost-effective.

Can we have more pics please? She looks so soft, she really is beautiful!

I agree that as a senior, she should get regular check-ups, just because things could start to go wrong.  BUT, that being said, some cats drool when they are happy.  Could this be what is happening?  Of course, they can also drool if they have mouth problems, so you really need to try to identify if this only happens when you hold her, and if it's truly coming from her mouth or her eyes.
