I adopted Luna back in August. She's had a ton of health problems since then. At the shelter she contracted a URI and it persisted after adoption required two vet visits. She had to be treated for tapeworm and general de-worming.

In October she developed a large-ish bump on her lip as well as a rash on her belly. I thought it might have been Eosinophilic Granuloma. The vet that I took her to said that it might actually be cancer. But he gave her a shot of Convenia and Depo medrol. The lip bump almost disappeared completely and the rash disappeared and she was doing better. There weren't any real side effects either.

Last week the rash reappeared on her legs. And the bump looked like it might still be there a bit. So I took her to the vet again on Sunday and he said that it was miliary dermatitis. He gave her another round of both Depo and Convenia.

72 hours later and Luna has vomited five times since this morning. She's also pooping on my bed and outside of her litterbox. I called the vet and said that it can't be the depo because the side effects would have occurred within 24 hours. But then the nurse saw she has a antibiotic shot and said she'd talk to the vet and call back. This was hours ago. I'm worried out of my mind.

I can't find any information about how long it may take for side effects to present themselves after Convenia. I'm really not sure what to do. I don't know if I can afford another vet around here. Does anyone know how long side effects might occur after the Convenia injection?

I am very sorry you are going through this with your baby.  I do not have any experience with this issue.  I just wanted to let you know someone saw this and cares about you and Luna.

The only thing I can think of is to trying calling the vet's office again since you said it has been several hours.  If your vet is not calling you back then you may need to get a 2nd opinion.  Sometimes vets will do a free office visit for new client's.  This may be a way to help you save money if you do need to find a new vet. If you do need to go to a new vet then take all the paper work regarding Luna's medical history.

As far as i can tell, the  convenia starts to take effect within a few hours of dosing, so I'm surprised if this is from the Convenia.

Did the Vet call you back?  What did they say?  Is she still sick?
