HA!  Got  here on time.  Now, let's see...I thought of a really good question a couple of days ago, and forgot to write it down, so I'll just have to fly by the seat of my pants this week.

Do you believe that there is intelligent life on other planets?  How about on this one
?

I'd love more than a yes or no answer, so let your minds wander here...

I think there must be.  When I watch shows about BILLIONS of stars in just our galaxy, the odds are that SOMEWHERE out there, there's someone asking the same thing.

I get a little frustrated when scientists say that "you have to have water" and certain temperatures and molecules and such, a high amount of carbon, for instance.  We have no way of knowing that.  Did life arise on Earth because of those things, or was the presence of those things what shaped life here, but it would find a different way on a very different planet?  As Mr. Spock once said, a long, long time ago, "It's life, Jim, but not as we know it."

I think there is intelligent life on other planets. It may not be life as we know it, but it may still be some kind of life. IMO, we are very egotistic if we think we're the only life in the universe (notice I did not say "intelligent" life because the jury is still out on that one).

I agree with the "Yes" answers.

There is too many unknowns out "there" and the possibility seems more than less likely - although what "intelligent" means is up for discussion

Of course, YES!!!  emphatically!!  With all the planets in this universe and other universes, why should Earth be the only ones inhabited with life forms. Life forms can come in all different types.. think of Star Trek, The Next Generation....

Hmm. I have to say, yes, probably. I don't think we'll ever run into each other though. The technology in Star Trek isn't physically possible, according to the rules of the universe that we are aware of. Folding space/time, "warp drive", etc. So unless the others know of some way to overcome the laws of physics, nobody can realistically travel outside their own solar system. It would just take too long. I suppose multi-generational starships are a possibility, or if the others are especially long-lived. IF they can find a way to power their ships with something that can be renewed in space.

Haha, I watch way too much Star Trek :tongue2:.

Actually, and oddly, folding space/time is possible, but we don't have the technology for it.  It could happen in the future.  This I get from watching Star Talk fanatically.

Kind of. I am a bit too apprehensive about the popular conventional existence of UFO's/Aliens, as the evidence is very poor and repetitive. Along with other stuff I could knick pick and question.

And as a kid of a physicist I could go on and on and bore everyone with the impossibilities essay-style!

That being said, the universe (Universes?) is massive, after all. No one can actually say for certain that absolutely nothing is out there. Who knows? Astronomy in itself is very interesting, absolutely baffling and awe-inspiring. Tiny creatures, bacteria, plants I think more likely, but again, anything is possible in retrospect. If this earth was possible, did it happen again somewhere else or are we incredibly rare? Has philosophical aspects too

But admittedly I am a bit more interested in figuring out what is in the bottom of our unexplored oceans.

...with the cats...
i do believe that there is life on other planets and/or stars, etc. and as for other life forms from other planets and etc, why they haven't tried to contact us......just look at the hot mess that's the human race on Earth!!! now, i wouldn't be surprised at all if our cats had been contacted by life forms from other planets, etc.
