Good day,

I am brand new here, but not to cats. ^_^

Six days ago when coming back from work I saw a car hit a tiny ball of dirty fur, and it was horrible!!! The car just kept going, driver didn't even flinch or cared that he had hit a poor baby. I picked the kitten up from the road, got home and immediately took it to the Vet.

It came to be it was a SHE... And I can just say fate is laughing a bit at me. I have a rescue kitten already, she was found by a girl when a group of evil teens were burning her alive! She was feral but when I got her she had been well into being domesticated and she is a purrball (the one on my profile picture). I kept thinking maybe I should get her a little BROTHER *easier to neuter* but alas... I came across this helpless kitten instead!

The kitten is approximately 7-8 weeks old. Has a bone fracture on hip bone but it is not severe, and has a bone chip on leg, not severe but painful as hell I imagine. She also had internal bleeding, so I had to go to Vet every evening after work for 5 days. Thankfully, her urine cleared up on the fifth day, and she has been eating even MORE than my adult cat, Nieta (granddaughter in Spanish).

I decided to keep her, since she has a long way to recover yet, named her Pudín (Pudding in Spanish). Of course I have some problems I need help with and advice for:

1. Nieta hates the world, thankfully she does not hate ME... but she has kept herself to the balcony of our flat, and does not go anywhere else in the flat. My flat is tiny, too!

2. Pudin was in isolation in the bathroom for the first 6 days, but now she is in the kitchen, getting closer to the living room. Pudín has tried to kill my hands every given chance she has. I've done everything I read about, talk when I am around, look at her shortly and not menacingly, blink slowly at her, kept to a schedule, given her food and water and litter box (which she SOMEtimes uses...) and a comfy bed(which she SOMEtimes uses... as the litter box).

3. Pudín has to be in her cage, it is not a tiny cage do not worry, because she is not allowed to MOVE much around yet, until 30 days pass and her bones have become stronger. Which limits her interaction with Nieta, a lot.

4. I already have had two fingers SLICED open by her, as in really deep bleeding for one hour, though I know it is because she is scared, I try to handle her with a puffy towel when I have to clean her litter box, and poopy bed. I have MANAGED to pet her for about 10 seconds for three occasions, YAY!

5. Pudín's poop was first hard, since she was malnourished, but now........it is too soft! And after she poops she rolls on it! And she cannot be bathed or cleaned until she is out of her 30 day recovery. Besides I fear for my life trying to wash this spitfire furball!

6. Last night she broke her silence and began to mewl miserably, my heart was breaking, because I cannot comfort her well! Since my presence still frightens her, Nieta has not taken to her, and she cannot be petted....

I have read and read and read all I can find about taming feral kittens, however, I have not found information in which it combines and INJURED kitten, with a need to stay in a limited space and with a second adult (scared of the feral kitten, hahaha) cat that also has its own traumas.

At first I hoped Nieta would have this magical insta-maternal instinct towards Pudín, and that Pudín would have the insta-love for Nieta. Yeah, I was delusional!

This turned out to be long but I want to explain as much as possible so the cat-lovers giving me their opinion know my situation well.

Nieta yesterday DARED go close to the cage, but growled in the end, hissed, and skedaddled out of there almost making herself a sticker on the wall!

I am willing to do anything it takes! I am a full-round animal lover, even tiny ants deserve to not be stepped on just because they are crossing the road!

Please, help me have more understanding on how I can help all of us be a happy, healthy family.

I will think on you and your problem.  As overall remark, rescued ferales whom are wounded and gets help in their need, are usually easier to foster...

she isnt.  I suppose its in much because she is in pain...  When they are in pain, they dont have the patience as usual and tend to be teaching lessons if its necessary or not.  It goes for humans too, btw...

 so I suppose its waiting till she is  healed, THEN will your loving start for real.  Till it, stand fast. Show patience and love.  Talk much in friendly voice, make friendly noises.  In the long run it will win.

Can you get goats milk? preferably raw? its always useful.  Contains also calcium,  good for healing bones...

Is she on any pain medication? Maybe you can ask your vet if a low dose pain med can be prescribed for a while? I can relate to your story. Three summers ago I trapped a 10 month old female feral whom I intended to release back outside. Well the vet clinic screwed up, gave her too much anesthesia, and she suffered kidney and liver damage (which was fortunately not permanent). Also, I did not want her ear tipped, but the vet tech tipped her ear anyway and chopped off a good third of the kitten's ear. No one told me how ill she was during the three days she spent recovering at the clinic. When I took her home she developed a fever and wouldn't eat. She had an infection. I had to syringe feed her for weeks. When I took her to a different vet, they discovered she had been shot by a gun. The bullet was lodged in her pelvis area and her leg had been broken but healed crooked. I decided to keep this feral cat so she would never suffer so much again."Mia" walks with a funny gait and cannot jump very high. My other cats ignore her and sometimes bully and don't allow her to go downstairs. She only allows me to pet her briefly when I am sitting at my computer and about to play with her with her wand toy. This is her joy in life, to play with the wand toy. She is not an affectionate cat and has large sad eyes. However, she is content. She is safe in my home and is never hungry. She is my little princess and I love her so much. You have a little princess too. Someday she will love you and appreciate all you have done for her even though it does not seem like that now. You will have a deep sense of satisfaction knowing that you truly saved this kitten. And even if she turns out to be like my Mia and is only content but not quite happy, you will still be happy that you saved her. So keep up the good work.
