Today Enzo was diagnosed with a UTI. There was bacteria and elevated white blood cells in his urine but zero crystals, and the vet said his bladder was small and there was no blockage.

However as soon as I got him home he began jumping in and out of the litterbox fairly often, trying to go but only peeing a tiny amount. He is acting okay otherwise, still eating and drinking and he doesn't cry when he tries to use the box.

Is this litterbox behavior something that occurs with a UTI? He has had one previously and didn't do this which is why I'm getting really worried. Is it possible the vet was wrong about there not being a blockage? He received an antibiotic and prazosin to help with urethra spasms.

Please let me know if you have any experience with this. I am really getting worried. Thank you!

Yes, this is totally normal behavior with a UTI. Just keep an eye on him.  If you don't see an improvement by tomorrow or the next day, I'd give the vet another call.

Thank you so so much for responding. I'm so relieved to hear it's normal. I was planning on calling the vet tomorrow if he still hasn't peed a normal amount in the morning but I'm not sure how long it should take for the antibiotics to kick in (he had the injection). Thank you again!
