And hid it somewhere in the house.

Well, I woke up at 4:00 this morning to find Niko crouched in the middle of the bedroom making some of the weirdest sounds he's ever made. He was growling and would run a few feet away from me every time I tried to get close to see what was wrong. Finally I realized he had caught and killed his first mouse (and he has been SO pleased with himself ever since). I tried to take the dead mouse to get rid of it, and he ran off and hid it somewhere in the house... I've been searching all the little cracks and crevices and I can't find it! I'm so proud of my ferocious little hunter but... gross!

I just felt the need to share his victory and my dilemma lol. So how do I find this dead mouse quickly? Any ideas?

Keep watching him closely, he will go back to it right before mealtime probably and try to play with it.  At least that's been our experience, mine would always go back to it sooner or later after he hid his trophy.  One was behind my dryer, glad I found it before it was used and got good and warm back there.

I hope you don't have to deal with the alternative......waiting for the odor.......

Is it possible he hid and ate it??
That could be why you can't find it!

Good boy Niko!!

Mine get a lot of mice. Every morning I wake up to a tidy little pile of mouse guts next to their empty food bowls. I think they're trying to guilt trip me into getting up and serving breakfast earlier.

One time Sophie caught a shrew and managed to bat it under the fridge. Your nose will lead you to it in a day or two........

It'll turn up (hopefully before it starts to smell). The cats in the shelter's feral colony are constantly catching mice. Usually we find them in the inside feeding room or near the food bowls in the outdoor cabins. It looks like they're "trading" the mice for cat food. One male has dropped mice (and a rat) right on my foot at feeding time.

Well guys, I still haven't found the mouse yet... I kind of hope he ate it so that I don't have to smell it, but I doubt he did.
I wonder if he did...or at least most of it.  I would think you would catch a whiff by now!  I know that smell all too well!  Maybe he did...here's to hoping he did!!
