Hi All,

I currently feed my cat Wellness Chicken wet canned food. She hasnt been a huge fan of wet food and prefers dry food much more. However, I want to stick with canned food and I've been thinking of switching to Halo as she isn't a huge fan of Wellness. About a year ago I tried Halo and she loved it. However I went with Welness as it was more affordable.

My concern with Halo is that it has garlic powder which I have heard is bad for cats. Some people seem to argue that the amount that is in Halo is very small and isn't an issue.

Anyone have experience with Halo and think its safe to use?

Halo is safe, in my opinion, but garlic is a totally unnecessary ingredient. Halo isn't really that great of food either. For the price you can get much better foods. Weruva, Tikicat, Merrick LID, instinct, all better choices. If she isn't a fan of pates try some shredded foods, like weruva or tikicat.

You could try Halo impulse, the ingredient list is pretty great. My guy was obsessed with that line for a few weeks and then suddenly decided he didn't like it but that's typical for him, haha.

Mine won't touch Halo. They have tried everything with Spot's name on it, the Impulse and everything else. Nope. They hate it.

Have you tried the Pride by Instinct line? Mine prefer this to the NVI line and if I remember correctly, PBI and Halo are similar in price. if you are in the US, Petco does carry a limited variety of PBI. Petsmart stopped carrying it. Mine love the chicken, lamb, duck and rabbit. I buy it by the case from Amazon using my subscribe and save. The PBI comes in minced and flaked varieties

Mine also like the Nutro Natural Choice line- they come in pates, chunky pates, minced and sliced. They also have a good variety of flavors. They only come in 3 oz cans though and they run about $1.09-$1.19 a can at Petco/Petsmart but they do go on sale for $1 fairly often. Try a few cans out and if they like it, you can buy in bulk from retailers like Amazon and Chewy.com
