Hi, Happy Saturday.

Who is your oldest living relative? How old are they? Which of your relatives was the longest living? What age did they make it to?

As far as I know my eldest living relative is my Uncle Peter, my dad's elder brother. He's 87. My dad is the youngest of 8 children, but there are only a few of them left now.

My Great Aunt Mary, on my mum's side of the family, lived until she was 102. I think she's the only relative I had that made it past 100.

I don't actually know :anon: I'd guess it's one of dad's cousins, but we're really not a close family. The eldest I know for sure is my dad's elder brother at around 77. My grandparents on both sides are no longer with us.

I believe one of my great aunts made it into her 90's, but I can't remember her exact age - I was only a little kid when she passed.

My grandmother lived to be 96; I'm hoping I have her genes (well, I do have some of her genes; you know what I mean).

My father was 96 when he passed.  My grandmother on my mother's side was 92 when she passed.

My maternal grandmother lived to be 98, all but one of my other grandparents lived to be 90 or above. My dad just died last year at 84, my mom is 82 nright now. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Turning 60 makes you realize just how close you are to that age!

I'm not sure. It may be my mother at 83. Actually, I think one of her aunts is still alive, so it would probably be her. A lot of my mother's aunts and uncles lived into their 90's and my paternal grandfather lived until he was 97.

No idea about relatives who have long since passed but my great aunt is in her 90s and still doing well. She's been in a nursing home for the past few years and keeps herself busy with all the activities offered even though her English is pretty much nil and she's been in the US since at least the 1960s.

I think it's my mom--she will be 87 in February.  My dad died at 72.  I don't think any of his siblings are still around.  Mom has some cousins still alive, but I think they're younger than she is.  My mom's partner (sort of my 'honorary' stepdad)
just turned 99.  He's a pretty resilient old guy, and we're hoping to be able to celebrate his 100th birthday next fall!

My maternal grandmother lived to be 102.  Amazing.

Right now, I'm not sure who the oldest living is. Could be my mom's sister who is 89. I don't really have a relationship with a lot of older relatives and there aren't many even left. Our family was fairly small overall.

My maternal grandmother lived to be 94. Not sure who is the oldest one now. Either my mom or my dad's younger brother and they are pretty close in age. Mom is 73 so he might be 74. I think mom will make it to her 90's like here mom did.

My maternal grandmother is 96. She's senile but that was a recent development (up until the last couple of years, she was sharp as a tack), and is pretty healthy physically. She doesn't take any medications. My mom is trying to get her to take Advil or Aleve for her arthritis, but she says she doesn't want to get addicted! I think at her age it wouldn't matter if she got addicted to something :lol3: but of course those meds aren't addictive anyway.

My maternal grandpa's cousin (she didn't have kids so we treated her like a grandma) made it to 98, and only declined the last couple weeks of her life. You did not want to mess with that woman! She was a tiny thing but tough. Her sister made it to 96.

My maternal grandpa was 83. But he was a big man, had diabetes, and had his first heart attack at age 55, so living almost 30 years after that was pretty good!

My dad's side isn't as long-lived. His dad was only 66 and his mom was. . .78? I think. But she had had a stroke a few years prior so really only 75 good years. They were both heavy drinkers and she smoked so maybe my dad can hope for better longevity, since he's pretty healthy and doesn't drink or smoke. We don't really know the extended family on that side.

My oldest living relative is my Aunt Jean. She is 82 years old. My mother died last year and she was 89 years old. My uncle Bernie died at age 92 this year. He was the oldest relative that I know of.  The youngest of my relatives to die was my father who had a heart attack at age 45.

My maternal uncle is 92. He was still working and attending classes when he was 90.  He earned a masters degree in microbiology when he was 89.   He lives a very healthy life so we are all rooting for him to reach 100, at least.

Both my maternal grandfather and my father lived to be 93, so the males in my family tend to have long lives.  The women are a different story - the oldest any has made it is to 85.

I'm ashamed to say that I'm not really certain.  I never got a chance to really know my Dad's side of the family, Mama always insisted we go to her family for holidays, and NONE of then lived near.  I think, however, that it is my cousin Brown Moseley.  He's about 8 years older than I am, on Mama's side.  I believe that all but one or two of Dad's family are gone,  There weren't many of them to begin with.

My paternal grandfather passed away at the age of 100. My father-in-law turns 90 in a couple of months and I suspect he's going to live forever. Just last week he raced in a stair-race and climbed 55 storeys in 18 minutes! He's in far better shape than I've even been in my life.

The current longest living person in my family is my maternal grandmother - she just turned 91 on October 31! Other then some achey limbs, she is thankfully healthy and her brain is as sharp as ever.

Overall, on my maternal side, the average age of passing was 95-98 (Mostly the women) spanning many previous generations. Health sturdier than rocks! Pretty good considering the history of Irish poverty on that side.

My paternal side does not fare as well, the average being only 60 to 70. Both my paternal grandparents died before I was born, and my own dad started having health problems young and now in his mid 70's has had kidney cancer and currently has a bad heart. His brother is also going through some health problems. My heart is absolutely perfect but I did inherit congenital kidney problems. After many surgeries currently stable though, however will likely need a transplant in about 20 years.

But that family went through a much rougher background overall, with decades upon decades of invasions, wars, famine, extreme poverty, civil wars and so forth on a small population and country.

So we will see which side I end up later in life
coin flip! I'll either croak a little early or see you guys at 100+ years old.
