On a front tooth yet. It's not real apparent; it looks like it cracked. If I'm really careful, I'm hoping to get through the weekend.

Will have to call the dentist first thing Monday morning.

Oh no!

I totally empathize with this. I'm in the middle of having an implant on my upper front tooth. Been using a "flipper" to fill the gap but gosh I hate it. At home I don't wear it and look, well, pretty awful.

Be careful!!! Eat lots of soup LOL

Likewise, I can empathize with you, I remember when I got my first crown.  Then this summer I had my first root canal in a tooth with a crown, (just when I thought it couldn't get any worse).  The endodontist told me he would try to be very careful not to crack the crown in order to get to the root.  Fortunately he was successful.  I feel your pain and hope you can make it through the weekend.

It doesn't hurt, so that's good. It's not real apparent, but when I was brushing yesterday, I saw the crack. I'll call the dentist and see what's going on. I have the original mold from when he put the crown on (they gave it to me to keep just in case something like this happened), so they won't have to re-mold my mouth. That's a good thing. I'll just have to give them the mold and they'll create the new crown. It will have to be sent out to another place where they color the crown because it will have to match my teeth; it's right smack in the front, so it's seen. It shouldn't take too long.

Meanwhile I'll have to be careful for a while.

Thanks! It'll be fine. (I hope)

Most dentists make the crown within 30 minutes right there in the office now from the computer. I've had several done now. My crowns are all old now and starting to crack, etc, I've had two that broke off the tooth at the gum line so I had implants. Once again done right in the office over a period of time. The price has dropped to 2000.00 from 4000.00 so when I think of what a crown with a root canal costs, that may be the way to go. PERMANENT!  I spend so much on my teeth I've already decided if it's a back tooth on the end, it's getting pulled. There is nothing worse than a huge hole in the middle of your jaw, every bit of food goes there! Good luck Winchester, at least you know there shouldn't be any pain involved! (Except in the checkbook!)

The pain will be in my checkbook. We do have dental insurance, which will pay for 50% of the total bill. Still, it's going to hurt.

$500 for me with good dental insurance. I'm in the middle of getting a crown right now. I ahve the temporary one on and go next week for a permanant one.

Good luck! What a pain though. :(

I go back on December 1 for the new crown. $1500. They're going to take it through our insurance (which should pay half the cost; we'll be responsible for the other half). If the insurance decides not to pay for it - I see no reason why they would not - I will just have to pay for it. It's a front tooth and I can't go like this for a long time; sooner or later the entire crown will break. We always try to keep money set aside for emergencies, although usually it's for the cats. But I need to have the tooth repaired, so it will be done.

He said they could take this crown off and put a temp on, but it would be a temp crown with temp glue and he really feels that, even though it's cracked, it's still sturdier than what a temp would be. I just need to be careful. That means no almond brittle, nothing with a hard caramel, no hard pretzels, no raw carrots, etc.

Meanwhile they did my six-month cleaning, so I'm good for that until next May.
