I got my 12-year-old Turkish angora Fancy Feast classics today. I am transitioning her onto Fancy feast classics from Blue Buffalo. Is this a good idea? Is Fancy Feast Classic a better food then some? She seems to have liked Blue Buffalo better, but I was told in a previous thread on this forum that Blue is not recommended :)

Fancy Feast is good food, not high in carbs. Blue Buffalo has grain in it, which means it's higher in carbs. So yes, it's a good thing you're doing.

Opinions vary by brand and by recipe.  We intend to abandon Fancy Feast once our current stock of cans has been consumed because I am not crazy about artificial colors.  If that's not an issue for you consider Friskies Poultry Platter.  Almost identical formula to the Fancy Feast turkey recipes, but a much lower cost.

As for Blue Buffalo, different recipes probably differ in quality.

Well, the formulas are so similar that there may not be much of  difference in the respective flavors.  The big difference is in the price.  a 13oz can of Poultry Platters works out to about 7.5 cents per ounce when a can is priced at $1, whereas the typical price for Fancy Feast in my neck of the woods is 60 cents for a 3oz can, which comes out to 20 cents per ounce.

My cat loves the Fancy Feast Pates. I only feed her the chicken, turkey, and beef pates. My cat has issues with fish, and it's usually not recommended for cats to eat more than once a week anyways. She seems to like turkey best, but tires of repetition of flavors. It's a good cost effective food, with fairly high quality. It can get expensive with a kitten, so if that's an issue I also feed Friskies pates from time to time (turkey and giblets, mixed grill, and poultry platter).

I just found out about Friskies 'Country Style Dinner' pate.  I have never seen it at the stores in my area.  The label  indicates that, like Fancy Feast, it contains no corn, no wheat and no soy product.
