Hello! My little family includes me, my fiance, and out cat Sophie. Sophie is a grey and white tux female and about 1.5 years old. She is a small cat and we are told she most likely will always look a bit like a kitten. We adopted her from a shelter 7 months ago now, and I can't imagine not having her with us. I think I will introduce myself her by telling Sophie's story.

Sophie (formerly known as Tuesday) started out life as a runt born to a feral mother. She was abandoned very young. A kind stranger happened to find her and brought her to the humane society. She was bottle fed and socialize there for most of her life.

When she was about 9 months she got sick with what the shelter described as "the kitty version of the flu" she had to stay at the vets for quite a while and had to go back to being bottle fed again. She lost a lot of weight then.

Thankfully, with the tender care of the vet and shelter volunteers, she recovered and was able to rejoin the other kitties at the shelter a couple months later.

My fiancé and I moved out of my parents and into our own apartment together in May. Within the first week we started looking for a cat to adopt, because it didn't feel like home without one. Via web searching, I discovered a shelter that had a recent influx of kittens, and so lowered the adoption fee to only $40 for all cats. It was almost a 2 hour drive away, but we thought it would be worth it.

We were originally planning on getting a much younger kitten. But there were lots of adult cats in their community cat room, and the shelter staff who was our guide insisted we meet them too. So we did. There were many cats in the room of all sizes and colors and personalities. Some came boldly up to us demanding attention while others didn't even acknowledge our presence.

There was one timid cat who seemed curious and interested in us. She was small and a little underweight, with large eyes and quick feet. She would come over, rub agents each of us in tern, then leave to watch the birds from the window. She did this again and again. The staff person told us she was called Tusday, and told us get story. She said Tuesday is usually pretty shy, and that her coming up to us like that was unusual for her.

We debated for a long time between Tuesday and on of the more outgoing cats. In the end though the choice was clear. Tuesday had chosen us, so of course we had to take her! The staff person told us she was very happy with our choice, and that they would be sad to see her go because they had given her so much care and she was a special kitty to them, but she was glad that she was finding a home with kind people like us. I was so touched.

We brought Tuesday home and introduced her to get new home. We didn't see much of her for the first week. She mostly hid. When she did start exploring shed jump and dash away at the slightest sound or movement from either of us.

But after a week, she suddenly changed. Something just sort of "clicked" in her head and she figured out that this was her home and we are her humans.

We renamed her Sophie, after a character in one of our favorite movies, Howls Movimg Castle, who starts out shy and unconfident but becomes brave and outspoken through the powers of love and kindness. She also had beautiful silver hair.

Sophie is now the sweetest and more affectionate cat I have ever met. She loves to be pet and to snuggle on laps. She sleeps on the bed with us every night, will come when called, and will greet us when we come home with a meow and a purr.

She will often fall asleep on my lap in funny positions, and will sometimes even have dreams with lots of face twitches.

She can be a trouble maker too! Water fascinates her. She loves to play with her bowl and make a mess of it. We also had to start keeping the lid of the toilet seat down to prevent her from playing in it all the time.

She likes to be a part of whatever we're up to and is a very good "helper"

When she's very happy and you pet her in just the right spot, she'll let her jaw go slack an open her mouth just a little, making her purring get louder. It's adorable

Her favorite past time is watching birds and squirrels at out bird feeder (which we got just for her) through the window.

We love our little kitty Sophie and we feel blessed to have found her and have her become part of our family.

Hi and welcome to you and sweet Sophie! She is adorable.

I also have a Sophie who is a rescue and she is also small. She looks downright chubby right now because she's in "full bloom" but she's a little thing. She's also mommy's baby- not that my other 2 (Sophie's sister Lilith and our Henry aren't) but Sophie AKA Kitten because of her size is my soul kitty.

This is my Sophie being naughty (as usual
). She's a doll faced (traditional) Persian.
