I recently began to take notice of the actual calorie count in each of the foods that I feed my kitten (5 months old). I feed both wet and dry, and particularly in the dry food I've noticed that the kitten food I feed is lower in calories than a lot of adult dry foods that I've looked at. I feed Whole Earth Farms kitten food and I see that it is 350 calories per cup, where as, I see that the grain-free Nutro adult dry food is 426 calories per cup. I saw similar calories in a few others as well. I don't know what to think of this. I always thought that part of the reason to feed kitten food was for the higher calories (along with the higher fat/protein content of course) I don't know if WEF is just a low calorie brand but I'm tempted to start feeding her adult dry food in its place because she needs the calories (She has a small appetite for a kitten her age) The wet food seems to be a little more consistent with having higher calories in kitten food but I've still come across at least one much higher caloried adult wet food (Evo). Would it be a good idea at this point to switch to the higher calorie adult food in stead of the low calorie kitten? I still give her Nutro kitten wet food and have started rotating a couple of adult flavors and brands with it but does anyone know if Evo is a good brand to introduce at this age? It has really healthy ingredients and its 204 calories per can (5.5 oz)
