Has anyone here had a nerve conduction test done? I am going this afternoon for one since I am still having issues with my leg and back. It was so bad this weekend that I only went to one day of the cat show we were entered in - I only went because I was helping a new exhibitor out and didn't want to leave her with no help. I used a crutch to get around. I really don't know what to expect with this test. It is a compromise - he wanted an MRI but I am severely claustrophobic, to the point of panic attacks.

I've had one done. It's not bad in my opinion. They place adhesive pads on certain points on you affected area and they are attached by wires to a machine that uses small electrical pulses to check the nerve. It doesn't hurt but I found some areas it was slightly uncomfortable but that may be just me as I hate even the static zaps that happen in dry weather ever since I was shocked badly during an accident.

An EMG test? I had that done once to determine if I had carpal tunnel issues or not. The zapping didn't hurt at all. It felt like the zap you get from static electricity.

The test was done - no big deal. They didn't find any permanent damage so that is good, but the doctor wants me to see a PT specialist since i am still in pain.  His office was doing the scheduling so I told them it would be best if they got the appointment for while I was on vacation in December since getting time off right now is going to be difficult. We are going into our busy season at work.  They called back and told me that the first available appointment was in MARCH! I am at the point now where when I sit or lie down for any period of time when I first get up and try to walk I am in excruciating pain and sometimes have to use a crutch or lean on something. After about 10-15 steps it eases somewhat but I still hurt. I honestly don't know how I can stand it until March. When I stand for long periods (I am on my feet at work 8 hours a day) I feel like I have wasps in my shoes stinging me. Boo Hoo - I am having a pity party!

They got me in earlier thank goodness - yesterday they had a cancellation so i got the appointment. Dr thinks it is SIJ pain - all i know is I hurt really badly after the exam! He bent my leg and twisted it in ways it did not like! Now I have to go to PT twice a week for 4 weeks. That is going to be a problem unless I can manage to schedule it after work. Getting time off during the holiday season is difficult. Since i was already out with surgery earlier this year I really don't want to make waves.
