Dispatcher does not tell 16 yr old to stop chase

I saw this on the news a couple of days ago, I was appalled that this young lad was not told to stop following the drunk driver!

Since there apparently was no indication that they were dealing with a kidnapping or homicide, wouldn't a simple BOLO have sufficed? I assume they had a description of the truck and the plate number.

Whats a BOLO?

They had a recording of the phone call between the boy and the dispatcher and he was chasing them for the tag number - he couldnt get it as it wasn't too clear.

But I don't think he should have went after it, it could have had tragic consequences.

Be On the LookOut for.... Even if they didn't have the plate number, it wasn't a good idea to encourage a 16-year-old (or anybody) to drive 90 m.p.h..
