My  fur baby has officially been diagnosed with some type of Kidney disease, failure, or infection. Her Spec Gravity was 1.008 and there was also protein found in her test as well. We sent her urine off for a culture as well as some other tests but the Dr. is leaning towards kidney issues. Before I jump on the Hills or Royal Canin Rx diet bandwagon, does anyone have suggestions on other NATURAL foods OR supplements that seemed to help their babies with kidney issues? Thanks!

The most important thing is to feed foods low in phosphorus.  If your cat doesn't like the prescription diets, you have to feed her what she will eat to keep her weight up.  Feeding wet food is very important.  There are also phosphorus binders you can give to your cat before meals that help prevent phosphorus from being absorbed.

Here is a very helpful food chart and the website in general has very valuable information.  A lot of members with kidney cats often refer to the website.  I certainly did when my Sandra was diagnosed.

Sending prayers to your baby.

I think it's really important to first find out if this is being caused by an infection or not.  Did they do a blood test and were her other kidney values indicative of kidney disease.  High BUN, high Creatinine?  When all three of my kidney cats were diagnosed, there was no "maybe" about it.  It was chronic renal failure, no doubt about it
Yes, their Speciific Gravity was on the low side too, but it takes more than one number to make a complete diagnosis.

Did your Vet recommend a kidney diet, or are you just doing early research?  If they recommended it, then I would indeed check out that link provided above.  Very useful link, as is that entire website.  As far as natural supplements, here is another section from the above mentioned website that deals with those:  http://www.felinecrf.org/holistic_treatments.htm

We just aren't sure with her levels at this point. Her SDMA is elevated and her Spec Gravity is poor and protein has been found in her urine as well as some debris in her bladder. I updated the post with her blood work or people to give me options if they have any. And they are most appreciated!

So it looks like everything was diagnosed from her urine sample, not from her blood, because from what I can see from the blood results, everything looks fine.  Even her SDMA is within normal range, albeit on the high side of normal, it's within normal range none the less, and it appears it is  exactly the same as it was 18 months ago?  Am I reading that correctly.

When are you supposed to get the results of the culture back?  I'm still very curious about that.  In the meantime, did you check out some of the foods in the link provided by Tamu708?
