The first time was in the 1950s when we flew from DC to Cleveland to visit my aunt. We flew just because we had never flown before.

The last time I flew was from Chicago to Denver last July to see my son and his wife. They live on the other side of the Rockies, so they drove to Denver to pick me up and then we drove back over the mountains, normally a 2-hour drive. Everyone else in Denver was leaving for the holiday weekend too. It was stop and go from the airport to the Continental Divide. I came down with a combination of motion and altitude sickness on the way, and we had to stop so I could throw up.
Not a fun way to travel.

I've flown a lot in the years between, but nothing compared to my other son and his wife. They fly all over the world for work and fun. My DIL is in Australia right now. Air travel has changed a lot over the years.

The first time was in 1995 when I ran away to India. That was a good year!

The last time was last October when I went back to the UK to visit my parents.

For me, the first time was when we flew to Thailand when I was 9 or 10 (early 90s). The last time was when we flew home from Thailand a few weeks later! I guess you could say I haven't travelled much :lol3:

That sounds AMAZING! What a great year

First time was in 1970, a small Cessna 172. The owner let me fly it a bit, too.  The first time in a commercial plane was 1971, on my way to Orlando for boot camp.

Additional

One of my classmates that was taking flying lessons flew the same Cessna 172 the same year. He is now a senior 787 pilot on the Houston to Asia routes.

First time was in 1988 - When I was a little baby.  It was to India, then Hong Kong, Tokyo and Hawaii. Traveled to other places later that same year too. Still have that baby passport!
Never heard of a baby passport.

Everywhere else we have driven. Even if it took 14 hours.
I don't think there's a nationality on earth that will drive so far to get someplace as Americans.

My brother's first passport was when he was a baby. You could see my mom's hand in the picture holding up his head :lol3:. I guess anyone traveling overseas needs one, even babies. My mom's family (when she was little) had a passport that covered everyone, with a picture of the entire family on it. I don't think they do that anymore.

Sigh, yes, all this driving. It's a big country with a good interstate system, which is nice, but also annoying because you HAVE to drive so much.

Back in the day one's child could be included on a British passport, but I just checked & that's no longer the case. So those passports must be renewed frequently I guess?

I think it's 5 years for people under 16. I remember one time we were traveling and the customs guy who was looking at our passports asked "where's the baby?" and my mom pointed to the 4-year-old, lol.

I think you might be right!
  Flying can be so expensive.

A few of my friends have passports for their babies because they travel internationally.

The first and last times I flew on an airplane were the same trip. It was probably about 1988. The flight was with a friend on a little private owned two seater plane. I did it just because I had never flown. It was so choppy and rough, it scared me. Plus the friend quit driving the plane and told me I had to take the wheel. I should have never done that stunt. :lol3: I decided once was enough and I have ridden in a car every where I have ever been since then.
