Mickey is the stray I adopted a couple of weeks ago who was eating everything in sight acting like he was starving to death.  Over the last few days, he's been eating like a normal cat, which is good.  This morning, he went to the vet and got his shots and was wormed.  We just put a bowl of soft food in front of him and he took a couple of nibbles and went back to sleep.  We went to a movie and were gone for a few hours and he was in the same spot and same position as before we left - I don't think he even moved.  Should I be concerned or is it just the shots?  He's going back to the vet Monday to get neutered, so should I just not worry until then?

It's probably the shots.  Many cats are lethargic and don't eat much right after shots.  If it continues until Monday then I would call the vet and let them know.

I agree with denice denice . It's probably the shots and also the stress of a vet visit.
You can try to entice him to eat with some meat baby food: chicken or turkey NO onions or spices. If this continues to Monday, definitely mention before his procedure.

Feel better soon, Mickey [emoji]10084[/emoji]️

Thanks.  He wanted cuddles when I got up but he still doesn't seem overly hungry.  I slept in really late so I don't know if he ate earlier or not.  John left for work a while ago.

It's probably just the shots, but I'd probably postpone his neuter for a week to make sure he's completely well for the procedure.  Just to play it safe.

Yup, agree with the rest. It's the shots January developed a slight fever after his shots and was ok after two days and yes, would postpone the neutering as what Advisor stephanietx mentioned.

He's back to eating like normal.

If I postpone the neutering, it will probably be at least a couple of weeks before I can get him in.  His vet just had a cancellation for tomorrow.  I'm afraid he'll start spraying and he's starting exhibiting some "domination" behaviors - pinning Connor and Murphy while biting their necks and not letting them up.  So I think it needs to be done very soon.  I'll ask the vet if he thinks it should be postponed but if he says it's ok, I'm going to go ahead with it.

Do you have an idea of how old he is?  My male has always done the mounting and biting the back of the neck with my female cat and they were both done before hormones kicked in.  Alice used to just always take it but now that she is 13 she doesn't always just take it anymore.

We're guessing around 7 or 8 months.  Connor started doing that to Murphy when their hormones kicked in but he hasn't done it since they were neutered.

If he is 7 or 8 months then neutering as soon as possible is a good idea.  That is about the time hormones kick in.  I would bring up how the shots affected him though.

Since he's returning to normal, I'd say you're good to go.
