Hi there, a few months ago i saw my kitten pepe coughing on a couple of occasions. I was concerned it might be asthma, so i took her to the vet. My vet thought she seemed fine, and said to let her know if it happened again. X rays were an option, but too expensive if not essential. I have seen both my cats pant on occasion, after running around like crazy, but pepe has done this about 4 times over the last couple of days. Yesterday was very hot, and she was running around outside. Today was mild. It only happens outside, and after excersise. But she is usually fine after running around. The other time she did this when not running, was on the way home in the car when i adopted them. I don't want to call my vet again because she thinks i worry too much! Should i be worried? Only lasts a few seconds, has mouth open, or tongue out. Besides that very healthy. Full of energy, and eats well.

Panting after vigorous play time / exercise is normal
It's like how many Humans pant to catch their breath after a run or other physical activity. No vet treatment or testing is needed. Just allow your cat to catch her breath after playing. She may want to immediately play again which is fine but make sure she rests afterward.

Thankyou. She did have her mouth open for no reason the other night, but didn't seem to be having trouble breathing.
