Hi, Happy Saturday.

And to everyone living in the UK, Happy Bonfire Night. Just a reminder to keep all pets indoors today and tonight. Pets and fireworks don't mix!

Today's question: Do you keep a diary or a journal of any kind? Is it one to remind you of upcoming events or to record things that have happened that day?

I've kept a variety of scrapbook/photo album/journal type books before. Usually during the years when I've been travelling or living in a new place for the first time. These days I don't actually keep a journal, but I do have a little sketch book for doodles and thoughts and for noting down things I've seen.

How about you?

I have not had a diary since I was a kid. I don't do anything important enough that I have to kept a record of it.

Happy Bonfire night in Return! Don't celebrate here, but have read/saw it on tely/heard about it

I kept a diary when I was a little girl - used it around the ages of 9-13. Then afterward I was using an online journal called Livejournal, ages 16-18.

Haven't used any formal journals/diaries in paper or online since!  To record upcoming events I usually just use my wall calendar and my phone.

I do have plenty of nicknacks from my travels, from pictures, souvenirs and newspapers, though like to somehow creatively display them compared to stuffing everything somewhere.

I had and still use a form of a diary, when I am going through some very stressful periods of my life. I just jot down my thoughts. Somehow, seeing it in ink and writing it is very therapeutic. Reading it later, really makes a difference as to how you are seeing things...

I have not been doing that for a while, though...I suppose, one day I may go back to it..

problem was, I write so much, that I get writers cramp...I started making a journal on my laptop.. it was easier to type than to write...

A few years ago, I used to write pages and pages in a daily journal as a way to cope with depression.  Then all of a sudden, the well ran dry and I've not written since.  Now I just keep a little appointment book in which, if I'm lucky, I remember to record upcoming events.

Certainly not formally, but my Office One Note is full of odds and ends, and I have notebooks everywhere I sit in the house.  Periodically, I take the notebooks and transcribe what I want to keep into the One Note.

Yeah. Same here. I had one of those diaries that had a lock on it when I was a kid. I never really used it. Then I lost the key. My brothers used to try to break into it as if it were a Jackie Collins novel or something.

no diary or journal here. i do use a couple applications on my computer a lot though, to make notes, copy new recipes to, keep track of payments/chores/appointments/etc. i'm very 'big' on keeping myself organized, pretty much live by my calendar (on my computer).

No diary or journal here either, have kept important dates or reminders on a "cat" calendar.

I keep a diary in the British sense of a scheduling book. Not only appointments and social events, but also what I want to get done that day and week. I've done this for years.

Like Margd, I also kept a journal during troubling periods, sometimes when I was consumed with anger. It was a wonderful way to let off steam and also to look back to see how I came to be where I am today. Once I got all those thoughts out of my mind, I didn't go back. I haven't written in it for years. I type really fast, so I typed it into the computer and printed the pages to put in a binder.

Yes, I'm with Dreamer Rose and Margd... journaling as therapy.
