G'day all,  Several years ago a stray smokey Persian showed up in our back yard.  He had all four feet declawed and he was starving.  He had been shaved and they previous owner had gone so far as to remove the id chip from his neck.  He was probably attracted to our yard because of our pond.  He was getting a drink when my wife noticed him.  He got frightened and ran into the open garage so Anne put some food and water down for him in the garage.  Well, when I got home and saw him sitting on my chair in the garage there was no question.  He stayed for the next 9 years.

Three years ago I have a couple of strokes.  The last one was bad and I spent a couple of weeks in the hospital.  Joe was frantic that I was not home for that period.  When the Dr released me he said that they could not put me in the rehab hospital.  He said even in my condition I was stronger than any two of their therapists and he didn't want someone getting broken.  So I went home.

For the next two months Joe never left my side.  He spent all his time on the bed watching over me and monitoring me when I got up.  My wife had to put a littler box and food in the bedroom for him.  A year ago when his job of nursing me back to health were over, he laid down and died.  I miss the little guy every day. I hope to see him again some day.

I'm so very sorry for your loss.  Sometimes a cat chooses you, you don't know why at the time.  I'm so glad you two were able to care for each other for so long.

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost Joe.

Sometimes they come into our lives for a reason and sometimes for a season. It sounds as if Joe came to you for a reason. He helped you through your illness as you helped him when he had no one to turn to.

You were very lucky to have found each other.

I'm so sorry for your loss of Joe.  He was put in your life for a reason.  I wish all the people who have the false belief that cats don't care really about people could read your post.  Bless you.

I'm so sorry for your loss of Joe. You both truly rescued each other. What a beautiful story the life the two of you shared was: you saved him but he saved you too [emoji]10084[/emoji]️ Joe is at peace and is watching over you.

I am sorry for your loss, and I can't say it any better than the ones above did, you two helped each other through some bad times, you were meant for each other and he was saying "thank you" to you for saving him. May his memory last forever, God Bless....

I'm so happy that Joe found you and your wife, he so desperately needed someone to love him and you will be blessed for opening your hearts and your home. He truly loved you and wanted you to be better, he loved you that much. It warms the heart to hear your tribute to this little 'nurse', it sounds like he performed his duties and was happy to do it. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your wife, I know how empty our homes, and our lives, are without those precious little ones in it. Know that the bond you have formed will always be with you, use it, and your precious memories, to comfort yourself in the times ahead. He knew he was loved, and that will bring him peace. He would never want you to be so unhappy, he loves you too much and only wants happiness in your life, you know that from the past. Just as you would want for him. Take care......RIP beautiful Joe, you will always be missed, and will be forever held in loving hearts. Send your love to the hearts that miss you, they need the comfort that only you can bring, sleep tight!
