Hi, i just want to know what are the quantities and how much should i feed my kitty since she needs to gain weight, when i went to the vet he said to me that my kitten is impossible to be 8weeks+ cause of her wait and he insisted that she probably 6 weeks, i adopted her not long time ago and the owner said she was born on 27 of august which means shes 2 months already, but my vet keeps saying that she isnt idk who to believe [emoji]128531[/emoji]
Anyways i really want her to gain weight, i feed her wet food ( two tablespoons) every 3 hours and i sometimes mix kibbles with it, sometimes she eats dry kibble alone between meals as a snack. I hope someone can tell me how much should i feed her for her weight.

reemgyu,

Welcome to TCS :wavey:

A kitten needs protein to grow. Wet food has got more protein than dry food. Dry food is full of carbs. And being 8 weeks old, feed him as much wet food as he can eat. Just monitor his intake or better still, create a routine feed for him. Meaning feed him at fix timings and don't free feed him. Example, feed him xxx amount of food, xxxxx times a day. If feed xxx of food, then feed xxx times a day. A kitten needs to be fed at least 4 times a day and amount not just 2 tablespoon. Otherwise you'll be very busy every 3 hours and what if you can't make it every day? And also the kitten will be hungry every 3 hours.
Wet food has enough moisture/water to sustain and hydrate him. If he eats dry food and if he dosen't drink enough water, it'll be bad for him and can cause him to have UTI. It's ok not to have snacks.
Not all kittens/cats are the same. Some eat more and some less. So you have to observe and experiment the amount of food and number of feeds. A kitten is still a kitten till he reaches a year old and some other breeds are still kittens till they are 2 or 3 years old.
Some people go by number of calories by weight of kitten.it also depends on how active your kitten is. I don't have the figure off hand as I don't feed my boy according to that.
And don't forget to post your kitty photos for us to see. Enjoy your kitten and the site ;)

Your kitten needs to be fed as much as she will eat and as often as she wants
Young weaned kittens need a lot of food for proper growth and nutrition. You can't overfeed a growing kitten. I suggest leaving a bowl of dry food out and provide several small canned food meals when you are at home. Canned food every 3 hours is a bit much, IMO. Your kitten will gain weight at her own pace.
