In this part of the country, it's what you call the rocks after hitting them with the mower a few hundred times, trying to dig or excavate for a patio, walkway, flower garden, post hole, etc.
Landscaping, yard work, gardening....wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for all the sex stone.  ($^^&% Rocks)

I know you've got another patio project in you.  By the time you get here,  "mega catio" will be finished and Makena can have it all to herself and supervise the whole thing.

Wow, that's going to be awesome!

Please start a thread all about your mega catio, I love seeing what other people build for their cats.

Took Dublin out for a second time on his harness to hang out in the grass with his big brother, Sonny (PitBull mix).  There are a couple reasons I'd NEVER leave either of them unattended on a harness and lead for any length of time:

Several months ago, the first time I sat outside WITH Dublin, he got ANIALATED by fire ants.  I didn't see the mound at the time, so they were able to administer over 100 bites....AT LEAST!  Whew....He didn't go into shock from it however, I never forgave myself for not being more aware of his surroundings beforehand.  Imagine if I left him there and didn't return for 30 minutes.  The results would be far different.

Another reason is, we have coyotes (in SW Fla).  They're very cunning and may be lurking.  Dinner on a leash.

Dublin is a Donskoy (hairless breed).  Mosquitoes / bug bites. Enough said.

Eagles and hawks are a real possibility that may attack Dublin.  What cat looks more like a yummy RAT than a sphynx? ....on a leash

Please don't feel I'm attacking you.  Just giving you my take on tethering not only a cat, but ANY pet unattended for any length of time.  The same happens with children.  You can turn your back and in an INSTANT, something can happen.  Heck, it's happened to my own.  Maybe(?) no problem in tethering - just never go inside for a second without taking them with you.

Good luck

Tethering Laws
Per AVMA Summary As of 2018 Animal Tethering Prohibitions Updated April 2018. Several state laws and regulations address the issue of tethering companion animals. Many other animal cruelty statutes likely would be interpreted to prohibit tethering where it is detrimental to the animal, though the statute may not specifically use the term "tethering."
TETHERING A CAT IS PREDITORY BAIT AND SHOULD NEVER BE DONE

D drleri22 welcome to TCS!

I think if you read through the thread you'll find that our members are discussing tethering in safe places, under observation. I think a lot of the pros and cons have been covered here, including the issues with safety. It's also an older thread. It's interesting to see the law though. :)

Perhaps you might like to come and introduce yourself in out New Cats on the Block forum?
